By the lake, meters from the French border, a couple of parking spaces 20 meters away. We ate inside, weather was cold and rainy so no luck for the terrasse which is quiet big. Both had fish dish, Perche filets and fera with French Fries and included in the price a fresh small mixed salad. The setting is modern and clean, the staff was attentive to customers. The perche filets serving size 200gr is quiet big. It seems they will stop serving this beginning of May so if you are going all the way there call before to make sure they will serve them to you.
We hadn’t been there since 2008 and had to return on a good memory of having lemon perch with fries lakeside! Love sitting outdoors with the beautiful scenery. It is a bit pricey for sure but we knew that going in. Food is really good including the salad and bread.
I visited Le Rivage as St Gingolph holds special memories. In addition, in 2015 a mini avalanche of rocks and water from a mountain stream that pours into Lake Geneva, barreled into the restaurant and adjoining buildings. It has taken two years for the proprietor to get his business back on track. I witnessed at first hand the extensive damage when I visited Switzerland in late 2015, and decided to eat at the restaurant once it was functioning again. I was staying in Geneva in Sept 2017 and did the two hour something trip the restaurant starts operating at 1130 so I turned up and they gave me a table for one. At that point there were few diners so I could pick and choose. A party of four arriving shortly thereafter thought it would be good fun to ignore all the other places available and settled down at a nearby table. I chose to move. Away,. And then, guess what! The proprietor 's offspring (kid, grandkid starts to run amok, making his presence very much felt. The locals smile (ain 't he cute . I move. Again. This time into quieter territory. It 's called a corner where it 's easy to get forgotten. But the girls, give them credit, did work out wher e I 'd finally moved to and brought me my salad, followed by the perch fillets for which the area (not just this restaurant is well known. (Fish is served with fries or steamed spuds. There is a tartar sauce on the side which I suspect caused my indigestion on the way back to Geneva. But I could,be wrong. Because of my moves, plus the fact that many parties of four or more have now arrived, I am not asked what I want to drink. So by the time I get my salad, followed by the fish, well, a drink is no longer necessary. After finishing my meal, I wait for the lady to come see me and find out if I wanted anything else. The minutes pass... Finally I go and pay at the counter. The coffee I would have ordered won 't be happening. In short: I had never visited this restaurant prior to the rock slide so don 't know what it was like before. All I know now is that it 's super glitzy with stainless steel happening big time and character not at all. The food I had was ok. They promote the fish as their specialty but they wouldn 't win Master Chef, even in their wildest dreams. (My opinion only . All in all a lackluster event in a glitzy setting that loses everything a local rustic restaurant could offer. Would I go back? Well, you work it out. Do not advise it for solo guests. Oh, sorry female guests.
