The Roof is a popular restaurant a few miles from where I live that sits on top of a building in Old Town St. Helens. It has a beautiful view, which (in itself) makes the experience well worthwhile. The Roof has a limited menu of mostly hot and cold sandwiches and salads. I had the Reuben sandwich. Enjoyed it. I have gone back several times. Always a great meal. Highly recommended.
I ordered the Reuben sandwich which is billed as having grilled black Russian rye bread, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, pastrami and thousand island dressing. What I got was a roll too large for this kind of sandwich, not grilled or hot, with a scant tablespoon of sauerkraut, too little pastrami and no cheese. Other sandwiches also had too little meat. The cook said all they had were rolls. Why select from the menu if the cook deviates and serves whatever he has? They were indifferent that the sandwich was wrong. Nice view. The crew worked hard. Good beer selection.
