After driving for about 6 hours from central Minnesota, we decided to stop for a meal before it got dark as we entered Winnipeg. We came across a small town and found what seemed to be the only restaurant around. After debating whether to continue on or try our luck, we decided to give it a shot and were pleasantly surprised. The menu was primarily Chinese and the owner/operators were very friendly and attentive. I ordered the pork-fried rice and it was delicious - hot, generously portioned, and fresh. The food arrived promptly and the atmosphere was simple and welcoming. Despite being late, we were the only customers in the dining area, although there was a bar attached as well. The people were very kind and we would definitely stop by again.
I spend a lot of time traveling and eating in restaurants. This was my second visit to this restaurant in the last month. I wanted to make sure my first positive experience wasn't just a fluke. The first time I tried their POUTINE, which is homemade fries topped with mozzarella cheese and gravy. It was fantastic - they use cheese curds instead of shredded cheese, which really made a difference. The gravy was delicious and the dish was very filling. On my most recent visit, I ordered a clubhouse sandwich and soup. Both were excellent. The sandwich was filled with tender chicken, bacon, tomatoes, and lettuce. The homemade cream of carrot soup was creamy and flavorful. The restaurant prides itself on making everything from scratch, including their pies and cheesecakes. The only issues I found were a bad smell in the washroom and a door that opened inward in the toilet area, which could be difficult for wheelchair users. Overall, I would give this restaurant 4 out of 6 wheels. If it weren't for the washroom issues, it would have been a perfect score. I will definitely be back to try their cheesecake.
After driving 6 or so hours north from central Minnesota we decided we should eat before dark and we got into Winnipeg. We got off the highway and drove into this little town and found what appeared to be the lone dining spot. We drove past it twice debating whether we wanted to go on or just take the chance. We took the chance and we were very pleasantly surprised. This is a primarily Chinese menu w/ very friendly and attentive owner/operators:) I had the pork-fried rice and it was very good. Hot, huge serving and very fresh. We barely waited at all before the food arrived. This was a very simple place, pretty easy on easy off and clearly served a necessary role in the community in terms of public gathering and food service. It was late when we arrived so we were the only people in the eating side, there was also a bar attached. Very nice people, we would definitely stop again.
I spend a lot of time on the road. So hense a lot of time in restaurants. This is the second time. I stopped at this one in the last month. Mostly to make sure it just was not a one hit wonder. I did not write about it the first time.First trip we had POUTINE it is home made fries with mozza cheese and gravy. IT was a home run on that trip. Because they make it the right way with cheese curds. Very few restaurants do this they use shredded cheese. The gravy was very good. It was very filling. This past wk we stopped there again. This time I had a clubhouse sandwich and soup. WOW AND WOW AGAIN. The sandwich was very good it had real tender chicken in it along with a good amount of bacon, tomatoes, and lettice. The home made cream of carrot soup was also very good. It was creamy and flavorful. They pride them selfs on making everything home made from there pies to cheesecake of which I will try soon. The only things I found to be a problem was the wash RM had a very bad smell. And the toilet area door opened in ward not out ward. So if you are in a wheel chair there is a big problem closing it. if at all.Other wise this is a fine place to eat enjoyI GIVE IT 4 OUT OF SIX WHEELS . IF IT WAS NOT FOR THE WASH RM IT WOULD HAVE BEEN 6TTYL 6WHEEL
