Prado is strategically located just by the Pergola so it is a prime spot for a lunch al fresco. Lunch service is a busy time and booking is essential. We went for mussels and a parillada (mixed grilled fish) which was a very generous portion...and also included three grilled sardines which were grilled to perfection. A winner.
Ate here 12 months ago and vowed to choose the parillado on the next occasion and proved myself right. As it was still August we faced a 2 hour wait for a table for 2 on the terrasse but could be accommodated immediately at...an interior table so we avoided the wait, the crowds, the sun in the eyes and the breeze and ate exactly the same food 20 metres further back from the sea! Both my brother in law and I went straight from the aperitif to the Parillado without an entrée in view of my recollection of the generous portions which proved accurate. A large plate of white fish, gigantic prawns, chipirons, sardines and mussels was delivered to each of us and it took 2 former rugby players over 30 minutes to work through the pile. Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection and delicious washed down with a couple of carafes of local rosé. After all that a couple of Cafés Gourmands was enough to round off an excellent dinner
The inside decoration is fresh and modern The staff is welcoming and caring We tried the mussel with cream and chorizo the salad with dry ham and goat cheese The cream and chorizo mussel lack of taste. It is not a delicate taste. The...french fries are excellent!!! Strongly suggest it The salad was huge for french standards and seasoning excellent. The café gourmand is not worth. It lacks of yummy according to our taste.
Called for dinner on Sunday evening having arrived by air that afternoon and somewhat hungry. Eventually chose the plat du jour fish on a bed of vegetables) which was very good, tasty and filling, but made a mental note to copy my niece and have...the Parillado next time and there will be a next time) as it looked even better! Food is generally good and mid-range pricing €40 per head including drinks) for SJdL while location is excellent with sea views over the bay.
