I ordered fish and chips, my fish tasted like it was reheated a couple times as the batter was gooey and soggy. This place is WAY over priced for food and drinks. I understand that they are trying to have the persona of being a posh place to eat but they are failing. Only the regulars who live near by will give a 5 star on this place.
The service at the restaurant was very slow, although the server was pleasant and not at fault. We ordered simple meals - clam and fries for me, and eggs Benedict with salmon for my husband. It took an hour for our food to arrive, and my clams and fries were cold. The gravy was congealed, and my husband's eggs Benedict had cold eggs and congealed hollandaise sauce. He sent it back and it was returned hot. We had a beer and a glass of wine, but our second round of drinks never arrived. Despite the lovely views and outdoor patio area, the slow service and cold food were disappointing.
This was our first visit to the Marina in a very long time. We were here with friends and since it was a beautiful day we sat outside. They have made many renovations and we were very impressed. The artichoke spinach dip was just ok and I did not like the pita chips, which are deep fried. My calamari was really good. My husband enjoyed the mussels and grilled pork sandwich. The service was excellent. Apparently this establishment accommodates weddings and it certainly is a great place for such a special occasion. We will definitely return and hopefully next time allow others to enjoy this outing as much as we have.
Within city limits, on the scenic St. John River, a Marina has long been operating but under new ownership, has totally revitalized this popular waterfront eatery, pub and special events venue to another level. Attractive upscale decor in a casual atmosphere complement the totally new approach to food service indoors with views, on a patio or deck/dockside with commanding views of two rivers and boating activities. Guest docking facilities, a new handicapped entrance and a special events venue on the upper level offer a magnificent setting for weddings or special occasions. Our meal of fish tacos, fries, veggies then deep-fried brownies with ice cream were well prepared, promptly and courteously served. Lots of staff were available. A band was entertaining boaters at an outdoor stage. Upgraded marina services and floating docks make it ideal for boaters on the river system.
We heard it had upscaled and wanted to try it. We'd never been to the old one, so had no benchmark against which to judge it's reincarnated state. The venue has been completely redone in a very chic but friendly nautical style. Very well designed and "uptrend". High tables and low tables. The only downside is that there is little to absorb the sound and with a crowd it can get a little annoying. They have identified this and put "baffle-art" on the wall, but they need more. Over looks the fantastic and very large patio that sports a firetable, and the Marina in the background. There is a stage for musical acts. Great atmosphere. The server was fantastic. Very attentive without being annoying, very knowledgeable about the menu. Could have done without the "No problem", as last time I checked, it SHOULD be "no problem" to do your job! lol That's not a professional answer to a request or a thank you. "You're welcome" is the appropriate response. (Rant over). We had the special, which at $29 was disappointing. Spaghetti pasta and 6 shrimp. The shrimp were done TO PERFECTION, but the pasta was slightly dry (no "sauce") and rather tasteless. The chef had the right idea as his choice of herbs was exquisite - he just needed a bit more taste to take it to the five stare level, especially at $29. The gnocchi "Mac & Cheese" was rather tasteless as well, but the accompanying Ceasar was divine. The fish tacos were not as good as Britt's, but they were respectable. The taco should have been slightly warmed. The accompany salad was meh, with bottled dressing. The apps - nachos - were disappointing. They used baked pita, which was cool and different, but the amount of toppings was very minimal and all dumped right in the middle, with most of the pita chips uncovered. Clearly no care was taken to make them. Wouldn't recommend them. The tex-mex salad was AWESOME. Except for the rock hard avocados. ha Highly recommend that starter salad. Desserts - Banana cheesecase was fantastic and creatively done, with actual banana cake as the bottom, and chunks of banana cake on the top. Delish!!!!! The deep-friend brownies with ice cream, although tasty looked pretty bad - like little turds all around the ice cream! They have to do something about that presentation!!! We had a Pimm's Cup to drink and there was way, way too much Ginger Ale - it should have been almost clear and the taste of cucumber should have prevailed. We felt like we were drinking Ginger Ale. Very disappointing. Coffee was awesome. We'll go again, for breakfast maybe this time. It's a wonderful hang, great venue, and service. Just manage your expectations about the food. It's just 3 star and value, not so much. A far, far better Italian dish at IBN is cheaper!
