We have visited this restaurant several times in the past and the only issue we have encountered is the longer wait time after placing our order.
We were a group of 7 people & had a private room on the 2nd floor, very quaint & charming! Our waiter was very pleasant. It's a given on a busy Saturday night that service will be somewhat slow however it took 30 minutes to get some water on the table & 1 hour to get some bread served, we kept being told it's in the oven. We were seated at 7:30 pm food came at nearly 9, we found that very long. While we LOVED the ambiance and it's close to home, the food was just ok. My house salad wasn't tossed & there was a small drop of dressing on top, you had to hunt for it. I ordered scampies & was quite disappointed with half of them, mushy and fell apart upon pulling from shells, two other diners who ordered the same plate commented on the very same thing. Overall for the price I paid for dinner and the VERY long wait I didnt get the value.
I found myself in this area with a very large group of hungry people who had been at an outdoor sports event. It is often hard to find a restaurant in smaller towns that can so easily handle a large group and manage to have them eat at the same time. This place was amazing. They could only accommodate us in their loft upstairs ( which was great because we could all hear each other and be together ). Our amazing server( wish I'd asked her name so we could acknowledge her!) was able to get drunk orders in, drinks delivered and others taken very quickly despite having to head downstairs and climb up a narrow winding staircase each time. Once the food arrived a team of servers came up the stairs one after the other each carrying four to five plates. We literally all had our food within 2 minutes of the first player arriving. This group has done this many times and we have NEVER been served so quickly and efficiently. Did I mention that their main pub and restaurant was packed?? And then the food. Everyone I spoke to said their meals were great. I had the table d'haute - seafood and corn cakes followed by blackened halibut and an amazing peach crisp with ice cream. Yum. Then large menu also has pub food, pasta ( best seafood pasta my daughter has ever had she), prime rib- in other words, pretty much anything you could ask for. How he kitchen could handle such a full place with food coming out at this pace was impressive! Well done Mon Village. Your staff from the woman who first took the reservation, to all the servers who served our table ( especially the main one who was with us from end to end) and then kitchen were great!
My husband and I frequently visit Mon Village when we want some comfort food. The place is so cozy and the service is always great. On our last visit, I had the Mon Village coquille and it was delicious! I will certainly re-order this dish. They also serve the best home made fish and chip. You will not be disappointed if you are looking for a homey feeling!
