Jerk Soul - Saint Louis

The food at this restaurant is incredible! If you're Jewish, Muslim, or simply avoid pork, this place is perfect for you. They offer turkey bacon and ribs on the menu. The flavors are a wonderful blend of Jamaican and soul food. I’ve tried several dishes, and I haven’t been disappointed yet. My only issue is that their food is so delicious that they sometimes run out of menu items. Also, it’s not a casual dive—it's a great dining spot!

However, I initially rated this place five stars, but my experience changed recently due to a new staff member handling phone orders. Her customer service has been really disappointing. I’ve faced issues with my orders every time I've dealt with her. I was having a great experience until she started working there. Now it feels like she doesn’t pay attention to my orders or correct them when there’s a mistake. It's frustrating because it shouldn’t be this way every time I visit. At this point, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, especially for the time being.

I recently ordered from this restaurant and I have to say, WOW! It was the best Jamaican food I've ever had, even while in Jamaica. I tried the Ruck wings served over rice, along with sides of spicy slaw and delicious sweet potatoes. Everything was absolutely tasty! My order was prepared quickly and the staff was very polite. I will definitely be ordering from here again!

Do not let the appearance of the place fool you. This food is worth the price and the ride. I often try new food centres of different nationalities. Finding this place was randomly through Google search, and now I see why this restaurant first appeared! Your Entrees are $24 you get two sides and your main meat is over a bed of well seasoned moist rice and beans. I ordered oxen with macaroni and cabbage. Me? Very picky with macaroni! Just because it means shaft? But the Mac was seasoned, creamy and cheesy. The cabbage had a hint of heat and a Smokey meat taste? A. My friend ordered the lamb aprons with fried plantain and corn on the Cob. The food didn't make it out of the car before we lick our fingers. The lamb dogs were perfectly thought and seasoned with several seasons like thyme or rosemary. The plantains were not too oily or muddy and the cob was broken into bites. The only 2 complaints I have are that there is not a location on the Illinois site and that the shares were proportional, but it was so good I wanted more?. 10/10

It took me a lot to write this review. The food tasted nothing like Caribbean food. We got oxtail and jerk chicken. From the customer service to the taste of the food was horrible! The oxtail sauce was watery and had zero taste! The jerk chicken was dry and Jerk sauce on the side instead of marinating the sauce with chicken. It?s the worst!
