While it's slightly off I-44 and requires navigating several stoplights to reach this lively Route 66 gem, the journey is definitely worth it, even with limited parking. I tried the Dutchman Delight Concrete, which features chocolate, butterscotch, and pecans, and it was absolutely delicious! My wait time from getting in line to receiving my order was surprisingly short. The operation runs efficiently, and the atmosphere truly embodies the spirit of St. Louis.
I've never been before, but I'll definitely return every time I'm in St. Louis! It was amazing! I love the classic atmosphere of the place. I wasn't sure what to order, but the very friendly lady at the counter gave me some great recommendations. I tried the Root 66 malt/root beer concrete blend since it was my first visit, and I also had the seasonal Pumpkin Pie Concrete. Everything tasted incredible! It was a wonderful experience, and your staff made it so easy for a first-timer like me. I just wish I could have...
I understand why Ted Drewes is considered so iconic. It's a classic ice cream parlor located on the historic Route 66. I completely see why families have been visiting for generations, passing the tradition down to their kids. The ice cream was incredibly creamy and smooth, making it perfect for a hot day. While I wouldn't say it's the best ice cream I've ever had, it's definitely worth a visit! Just be aware that it can get quite busy, so be prepared to wait in line!
When in Paris, you have to visit the Eiffel Tower. When in St. Louis, you probably want to see the Arch. (It is amazing. But I would say the one thing you have to do even more than a Cardinals game or the Arch is sample a Ted Drewes Frozen Custard. They called their custards Concretes because you can turn the cup upside down and it won't fall out. Except why you show up in July. The custard melts faster than you can eat it, so the magic trick won't work. No matter. Ted Drewes
Super fun place for a summer treat! Don?t be fooled by the crowd, the lines move very quickly and it?s worth the short wait. The huge variety of combinations makes for an experience that is never boring, and the crowd that gathers around is very friendly and full of fun characters. The staff has to memorize your entire order (no notes or paper! and I?m yet to have them mess it up. Will definitely be back.
