Hotel De L'Univers - Saint-Malo

This is a sound utilitarian hotel with a great location intra muros Lively bar at the front entrance, perfectly comfortable and well equipped bedrooms, standard continental breakfast and, above all, within walking distance of dozens of restaurants. Friendly staff. No complaints. This isn't a...five-star place and doesn't pretend to be. There is no in-house restaurant.

We waited waited and waited to be served. We would have walked out at that point but it started to rain heavy so i went and asked one of the 5 waiting staff to take our irder. Was met with a very indignant oui and...she still made us wait another few minutes before condescending to take our order. I know not rushing is the French way but it took half hour to get served 15 mins for drinks to arrive and about the same to get the bill. If it had only been one waiter serving i would have made allowaances but there were 5 and the place was only semi busy.

The hotel has a great location, is a beautiful clean building, has a great atmospheric bar and helpful staff. the only negatiw was a bad breakfast selection and a bad value for €13.50 pp

For a few beers on a place we loved, the bar de corsaires in universe hotel, but no more. arrogant and impatient waiter, inedible and stale bar snacks, overpriced beer, clouds of zigarette smoke through the covered terrace....Never again.

Ate here both evenings , good service , enjoyable Friendly staff , reasonable prices for St Malo Salads and Moules a must !!
