The kids enjoyed the hot chocolate an the crepes. The second was lunch on the last day of the season. This was a poor experience. There was only one waiter for the entire outside terrace.I ordered the same as the table next to me. They had a plate and a large salad. According to the waiter this was choucroute, but when it arrived it was on a different plate and without salad. Given the long wait I decided to let it go. The kids wanted to have crêpes, but these were no longer available as it was the last day of the season. The food was ok, but not outstanding. After the food came the next ordeal; trying to pay. This took about 30 minutes. Ridiculous, but not surprising with one waiter and a full terrace. The rating is the average of the 2 experiences with more weight given to the last bad experience.
Thanks for great service, fresh food, large portions and nice atmosphere. Wonderful view. We had great lunch with salade gourmand, onion soup, caprese, tagliatelle. Tres bien!
The food and flavors are 5 star, but it can be too busy with slow service. We have eaten there several times and will continue to return. The atmosphere is 5 star, a large deck with a view. The interior is wonderful French mountain antiques. But the best part is the flavors and quality of the food. Often French mountain restaurants all taste the same. Not this one. Congratulations to the chef.
Nice little chalet on the bottom part of the resort. Excellent views from the conservatory and deck chairs out front
On our last day out of six in les 3 valleys we passed up all of the pizza and standard fare at the bottom of the hill in Val Thorens and found our way up to the Chalet Des 2 Ours. Needless to say my wife was approaching insane hangrey levels so we were eating at this one regardless. Low and behold I had actually made the right decision on this one!We were welcomed at the door by David who was playing both host and waiter and though it was still right at the end of the lunch rush he found us a spot at the end of a table ( which is great with all the associated ski gear ). The plat du jour was rabbit in mustard sauce with crozets in cheese. This I ordered without even looking at the menu and my wife seizing on my enthusiasm joined me. David took our order and no sooner had he left than the table next to us had a big plate of thick fries arrive so we pretty much had to order those as well. As expected the fries were as good as they looked and to boot there was an English waitress who noticed we ( who were speaking English to each other) had no ketchup. Bam, is 6 enough? Barely but thank you. When the rabbit came it was fantastic. I had been eating game through my whole trip ( duck, rabbit, venison) and this was tops, nothing fancy, just really well done. Rabbit seems easy if cooked off the bone but sometimes less than ideal when cooked bone in but this was great! The other half of this rather large, dare I say American, sized meal was crozets with cheese. While staying in the area we had tried this as a side several times and it had been alright but I'd say this was the one time we really enjoyed it. All in all this was easily the best meal we had while in 3 valleys and the service was fast and prompt. From door to door in under an hour which is perfect when trying to get in as many runs as possible! The kicker was that it was also the 2nd least expensive which was a bonus! Thanks so much all of you, a great way to cap our trip to 3 valleys!
