They had sold out of croissants, but had plenty of desserts available. The Passion fruit tart looked beautiful, but had too little custard to balance out the overly sweet passion fruit gel and thick crust. Bobby enjoyed his baba au rhum, although I found it overly soaked in syrup. We ended our meal with two salted caramel lattes before heading home. I would return to try their puff pastry treats.
Love the new location. The pastries are beautiful and delicious and espresso drinks are very good. Our favorite was the passion fruit tart, perfect amount of tart and sweet. My daughter requested the Tresor (hazelnut mousse cake) last year for graduation and it was divine!
Absolutely love here, best French pastry store. Croissants are surely nice, the pastries here were fantastic and the best. The pastries have at least three layers of structure. Puff was my favorite. There’s one more tiny puff hiding in the top cream, filled with strawberry compote, how brilliant! Even the cream are not the same.Canele is also a genius creature. Unlike traditional one, here they cover the canele with a think layer of chocolate and sprayed with metal color to make a canele mold look. And inside the chocolate is not just a canele cake. It’s a three layer filling made with cake, cream and a little bit of caramel.Passion fruit tart has a perfect balance of sweet and sour. The tart shell is buttery.Pastries here are not only tasty they are also creative.
Truly a gem of St. Paul, and worth the trip from Minneapolis. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the pastries and goodies are wonderfully made. Marc Heu clearly is a master of the craft and the products show it. My favorite was the almond croissant, but the fruit tart, cronut, and macaron were all delicious as well. I will be back to try even more treats
Marc Heu has hands down the best almond croissant I’ve ever had. It was flaky and buttery and filled with a large serving of almond paste. The almond paste had a perfect texture and wasn’t overly sweet. Each bite was a revelation.I’ve been wanting to try this patisserie for years, but I’m usually working during its open hours. I finally got a chance to go today, and I wasn’t disappointed. The almond croissant was definitely the highlight, but the passion fruit tart was a close second. I also enjoyed the passion fruit macaron and mascarpone-filled cronut-inspired pastry.Everything was delightful and the service was great. Will be back!
