While I’ve had a couple of OK experiences on the rooftop, the experience last night turned me off. Unable to make a reservation online, I called three times with no answer zero voicemail. My reservation request was not denied (via email) until an hour before I hoped to have dinner there with a friend, causing me to scramble to find somewhere else on a Friday night. Neither one of us wanted to pay for parking etc. only to find out the place may have a private party or have permanently closed last week. I spent way too much time looking through their site, checking email, calling them to come up with nothing. — With all of the shifts during the pandemic, info about restaurant closures is rarely updated on their websites Google business page so being able to get a hold of the place or making a reservation online is key before planning your evening there.
I was here a couple of weeks ago, and had a good time. However, there were a few things that made it a lackluster experience. 1. The biggest issue is that we went to check out the arcade, which it turns out doesn't exist. They do have Jenga and Shuffleboard, but that's it. They should definitely update the website and Google listing to reflect that there is no arcade. 2. Getting to the rooftop involves leaving the restaurant, cutting through a parking ramp, and taking the world's slowest elevator to the top level. This is mostly beyond Ox Cart's control, but it's worth mentioning for people interested in going. 3. The menu was pretty expensive for what it was. If I did come back, it'd probably just be for a couple of drinks and not for a meal or appetizers. All in all, it was still a good time and I loved the rooftop view, but it could have been better.
Roof top is amazing! It was seat yourself at the time which made it hard to get service. We moved to the bar and were immediately helped! Food and drinks were good. There was a DJ which was a nice surprise! Good time!
Been going to the rooftop at Ox Cart for several years, so it's always been a favorite in Lowertown. Our experience tonight was...not great. The drinks were good and the food was good, so no complaints about the quality of their product, but the service was honestly pretty bad. It was a fairly busy night (Friday with a Saints game) so recognize the added business, but my girlfriend and I were sitting at the bar for at least two hours and literally never once had a bartender actively approach us to ask if we needed anything. We ordered three rounds of drinks, two rounds of shots, and food, and every *single* *time* we had to wave someone down to order. I get that it was busy, but only one single bartender ever served us and all the other actively ignored us/wouldn't make eye contact. Not a great way to get returning neighborhood business, and hope they train their staff better going forward. Honestly, if anyone connected to this establishment reads this: we wanted to give you money, and you wouldn't take it. This is literally hurting your business.
