Chez Jackie is an excellent little restaurant that opened in February of 2015. Before noticing the very reasonable prices, you 'll definitely appreciate the vintage decor that makes the place so cozy. Everything is vibrant and colorful and very well accomplished. It makes for a cheerful and amicable place to sit for either breakfast, brunch, lunch or even an afternoon snack with a soda, beer or wine. For free parking, you have either the street or a spacious area in the back of the restaurant. If you park in the rear, you end up entering the restaurant through its second-floor terrace, which offers a nice view on Lac Masson on one side and a nice private cedar hedge on the other. Chez Jackie has a liquor license so you can order a beer or wine with your meal but they also offer a wide array of sodas and the owner really knows her stuff about old-fashioned soda brands that she displays next to her old Coca Cola posters and ads. She can talk about the differences in flavours between the lesser-known Stewart 's or Boyland 's brands and the bigger brands like Fanta, Crush and Coca Cola. You can tell that she is passionate about the topic. We have gone many times over the last year and have been able to try a few of Jackie 's delicious cooking. One staple that we order each and every time are her fries. Even if we 're driving by, we 'll stop by for a take-out order of her crispy coated/breaded fries. They make for a fine poutine as well. Her pizzas are delicious and you will not be disappointed by her home-made tomato sauce. Little of what she serves is not home-made in her cozy kitchen that she often alternates from, between cooking and serving, but the sauce is worth the extra mention. The pizza comes in single-serving size but is quite filling. We haven 't tried her brunch or breakfast yet but Chez Jackie is first on our list. The restaurant is located on the main floor from street level, but has a lower floor on the rear (next to the parking area) which the owner has transformed into an ice cream parlor, equally well-decorated in vintage style. It is set to open in mid-May and will offer hard and soft ice cream, sundaes, milk shakes and a candy-store section.
This is our first trip to the Laurents. Stopped in for a late lunch. Jackie is an amazing chef. We shared a Caesar salad and spaghetti Bolonese. Both dishes were delightful. Very friendly and a great menu. We will be back!
Not only is the quaint little restaurant lovely to look at the food is delicious and home made! I accidentally fell upon this jewel for breakfast whereby I was serenaded to the music of chairs aznavour while enjoying a delicious home made breakfast at a ridiculous price!! I had the two eggs with bacon and coffee that came with the meal a ridiculous price of $5.25!z, I added one large slice of homemade French toast which came with real maple syrup. The whole meal cost me $7.85 can you believe it?? The coffee was fresh the bread they served me was French bread and the potatoes were home made seasoned just right! I really liked the owner whom I advised her to register on trip advisor so she could answer all the wonderful reviews she will start to get no doubt!!
I absolutely adore the breakfast at this restaurant. It's large, delicious, and doesn't break the bank. The owner has a wonderful attitude and is very warm-hearted. I often visit when I'm shopping at nearby thrift stores, and it brings me a lot of happiness without costing much. This restaurant is my go-to for breakfast in the whole village. If I had to choose a favorite for comfort food and ambiance, this would be the place I'd pick.
