They’re absolutely right. The bar staff is fantastic, but it doesn’t make much difference when the atmosphere is lacking. I don't think I'll be coming back.
Fun place at the top of the Salem Hotel. Had to try just for the view. Overlooks Town Hall, but other than that you really only see rooftops. Very attentive service. We only had drinks as we had just eaten but it has a Mexican menu which is a little unusual but also a nice change if you've had your fill of seafood and nachos which is on every menu at every establishment in Salem. Nice variety of drinks.
Stopped by for cocktails. Great place to meet friends and hang out.
Went to the roof to celebrate a coworker’s last day. Since we were leaving from work we trickled in over time. I made sure to let the host know that we were a party of 3 with more on the way. They seated us at a large table. They never ask us when others would arrive or how many of us there would be. They also never mentioned a time limit on the table, nor was it posted anywhere. The menu was small and the drink menu wasn’t impressive. Two of us ordered house margaritas which were small and unfortunately light on the tequila. We also ordered guacamole, which was fine, but the chips weren’t great. At one point, we asked to switch to a spot in the sun, the hostess said she’d need to ask her manager. He then came over and basically said no without explanation. The waiter was really inattentive and disappeared for long stretches, he seemed confused about almost everything we ordered and never offered to refill empty waters. After we all arrived and were pretty comfortable at this large table, the manager came over and said that there was a limit of 6 to a table, but that he’d let us stay and wanted to make sure that no one else was coming. We were all ordering drinks, people ordered meals and appetizers. The nachos were cold and the chips were weirdly hard. The manager comes over again and tells us that there’s a 90 minute limit to the table and we’ve already been there for an hour and 45 minutes. He said that we could stay for another 15 or 20 to finish our drinks. Then the waiter came over and just gave us our bill. There were empty tables all around us and no one was waiting, but they still felt the need to kick out paying customers who would have continued to order drinks and planned to get more food. The whole experience was extremely disappointing and it seemed like we were an inconvenience to the establishment throughout. To my knowledge, the limit for 6 people and 90 minutes must be a restaurant policy, since there are no longer Covid restrictions. The service was bad, the food and drinks were mediocre, and the manager should have handled things differently. Unfortunately, the view didn’t makeup for their failings, I won’t be back.
My friends and I were so excited to be standing on the roof, we tried several times. the only thing we can enjoy, but when we got up there, it was clear. we spent more than 150 in cash, but obviously that was not enough to keep them from profiling, treating us with respect, and not allowed us to move to a table to drink further. the waitress was so rude, and they asked our group of 7 to move on two tops. so disappointing to be treated in what a really cool place might have been. will not go back.
