Lake Effect - Salt Lake City

This is a mix of throwback and modern. Food was really good and loved the live music. Service was just a little slow.

Lake Effect is a beautiful restaurant, bar and dance club offering delicious food, extensive wine, beer, and tasty “specialty” well drinks selections. Menu has something for everyone, from tapas to entrées and desserts. The staff is very knowledgeable, offer great menu/drink recommendations, and move quickly. Live music in restaurant was very good. As always, a fantastic place to take friends from out of town, and meet up with friends from in town. Love how we can find the perfect drinks, and friendly staff.

This place used to be classy. Now I show up and I’m the over dressed. The patrons are in sweatshirts baseball caps and in street clothes. It’s like any salt lake dive bar with more expensive drinks but they have a live music so that’s cool. Need to find a new classier place, it’s not here.

Some good. Some bad. Unfortunately, there was a private party upstairs, so we had to sit in the basement. It’s dark and moody down there. It’s not spooky, but it’s very dark with only some candle light and no windows. I had to pull out my phone flashlight just to read the menu. The benches are uncomfortably far away from your table, and they’re bolted to the ground, so you can’t move closer. This would be fine at a Wendy’s, but in a place that’s supposed to feel like a lounge, it was annoying. … – show
