An episode of the best thing i ever ate, where she highlighted les madeleines' kouign amann. the next day I flew to the business to salt lake city. had some time before my first meeting and searched les madeleines. I knew there was something special when I saw a sign on the theke that they did not preorder their kouign amann, there was a limit that they were not disappointed. I had some other kouign amann, but that's the best.
Yummiest Pastries. I absolutely love these pastries! Super yummy and if I can save enough money to buy one (they sure aren't cheap) I rush over as soon as I can. They also have a surprisingly tasty breakfast menu; very wholesome and I'm sure much better for you than their buttery pastries. My all time favorite, tho, is the mac and cheese. Probably the best I've ever bought. Unfortunately, the service is not just touch ad go...it's just bad. I've never experienced a rude employee here, but I've also never seen one that wasn't inept. Life beyond pastries. The pastries at Les Madeleines fully deserve all the acolades they get. Don't let that deter you from getting a full lunch there the sandwiches are excellent . They have good bread as well as good sweets and the fillings are high quality. You may think you can't eat a kouing aman AND frites but you probably can. You just can't eat dinner that night Coffee census Fall excellent croissant, oz coffee about (add for kouing aman), china cups and plates, magazines. About half full although sometimes line since people also buying pastries to go.
Indulgence. I've wanted to review this find since they were on State Street. This is as expensive as any Paris patisserie, where they place each pastel macaroon in a ruffled cup, then in a doily lined box that is tied with ribbon and an embossed sticker. When you eat it, it is almost a religious experience. No Oreos grizzled down the gullet! No Twinkies with a half-life of billion years! To eat anything from the ovens of Les Madeleines is to have tasted bliss. I can think of touted bakeries in other cities--Junior's in Brooklyn springs to mind--where the reputation far outstrips the quality. We've all stood in front of the pastry case, nearly drooling at the winsome confections...read more
