Rye - Salt Lake City

I love this place! Everything that we have tried is so amazing! Their steak bowl is to die for, and their truffle fries are amazing. We always get amazing service and food when we go. I highly recommend.

I like this place but our experience last time was puzzling. There were more than a few open tables and several people waiting. The hostess told us the wait was 25 minutes but she kept sitting people in random order. There were more than enough seats for those waiting but she would not seat everyone. I'm not sure if they were understaffed and couldn't cover all of their tables at once or what. Another thing that was strange was that we weren't offered the option of sitting at the bar. We are not regulars so we forgot that there was a bar so asking about it didn't cross our minds. When they seated us we realized that not only there was a bar but it was mostly empty.  After that, service was a little slow, though water and coffee arrived promptly. It took a while for our server to take our order an then a really long time for our plates to arrive. We both got the Whiskey and Waffles + chicken. The flavor was great but, unfortunately, my waffles were undercooked: pale, not crispy on the outside and when I cut into them they seemed mushy. I took a bite and the smell and taste of raw flour were evident. I tried to cover it with the syrup and the chicken (which were both delicious) but couldn't finish it.  Aside from that, everyone was polite and the ambiance was nice. It's just that everything else seemed slightly off somehow. I guess I just want this place to be great across the board because you can see the potential is there. Hopefully next time...

This is far and away the best brunch in Utah and arguably the best restaurant in Utah as well. Not kidding. Rye has had some of the best people in the Utah restaurant business involved in its inception. The world-class food, design, and service is reminiscent of something you would see in Portland or Austin. It's absolute fortune that Salt Lake City has it. Don't listen to stupid reviews that factor in irrelevant details.

Nice atmosphere, good service, friendly staff, big table for my 3yr old's train set (yes that's how we roll) and good food. I ordered the breakfast burrito and house potatoes. The food was good but not exceptional and the prices were reasonable ($8 for my meal).
