The restaurant offers some vegan salads and side dishes. Among the menu items are also buckwheat and peas as side dishes, for those craving some more wholesome options in the sea of greasy fried vegetables, one can choose from in an Uzbek restaurant. It is a solid vegan/vegetarian option if in Samarkand, where there is really not much to choose from. Updated from previous review on 2022-08-10
Tasty food, friendly staff, a cold beer what more does one want.... Updated from previous review on 2022 04 02
The place itself is nice but the atmosphere is very weird; the stuff is kinda scared or sth? They have one of those big menus with thousands of dishes with pictures and out of this thousands there is no vegan main dish (not sure about vegetarian but I highly doubt). I ordered grilled vegetable and they had a strong taste of meat cus I guess the make them on the same thing. So unless you want to eat agian French fries with tomatoes and lettuce don't go there.
Well, the restaurant was part of our hotel and the only one recommended by HappyCow and other websites, so it was our only choice. We asked for a vegetarian menu, and the waiter said we had to select among the side dishes (of course... . We knew Uzbekistan is not a paradise for vegans, so we were ready to order fries and salads! We had a vitamin salad, made with cabbage, tomatoes, raisins, carrots, no onions, only oil and lemon as dressing. We ordered other several dishes: grilled potatoes (ok ; French fries (too junky to me, my husband liked them ; grilled veggies (tasty but greasy ; veggie stew (very basic ; bread (always delicious in Uzbekistan . My husband ordered a soup too. 7 dishes, 1 big bottle of sparkling water and a coffee= 13 dollars (including 15% of service . Everything is decent, if you consider that this place is your only option. I would not recommend it in other situations and countries, as this is just a regular restaurant where you have to order side dishes, but here it’s the only choice. It’s a smoking restaurant, ask for the non smoking room if you don’t like eating in a cloud of smoke. Service is poor and slow, and staff doesn’t understand well English, so be patient. It might happen that they have no cold water when outside is 38 degrees...
