My brother used this venue for his wedding, and we all had a perfect day, from the stunning setting overlooking the lake, to the canapés before dinner. Dinner was delicious and plenty of food. The whole day was magical, and the photos are beautiful.
The major problem with the day seemed to be lack of management. There was no road signage and building signage. We had to ring them to find where they were. The parking is shared with the national park, and it was bedlam. To us 20 mins to find a parking spot. Nothing was explained to us by the staff. There was no table service for anything. To get your drinks you had to line up outside at the Cafe with the hoards of people who were not in the restaurant. The presentation of the food was like a school camp, and flies kept landing on it. There were numerous jugs of water on the beverage counter, but apparently there were not for the table and got told off by a waiter for taking one (along with a number of other tables) and confiscated. The food was OK. The whole thing just felt like a opportunistic money grab because of Mother's day.
Two of us had Frittata and salad, and it was possible the worst frittata I had ever tasted!! Pity!! Our friend who had a burger said it was his good as were his chips.
We took our 2 yr old daughter to see the wildlife center. It's a small fee for adults ($6) and our daughter was free. It's a really well set up venue. We enjoyed the the exhibits and the aviary and outdoor area were nice. We had the chance to get up close with a couple of Eastern Gray Kangaroos and a wombat. The Platypus is beautiful and later this month a new enclosure is opening. The hot chocolates from the cafe were nice.A nice way to spend an hour or so.
