Bar America was our last stop after exploring downtown. The two bartenders were super nice and cared for us. It is amazing what good customer service can do. We enjoyed every place where we went to SA, but Bar America is characterized by the service.
I was a little excited that they thought I was much drunker than I and wouldn't serve me first... This was on the light **** caused by my invizalign. But not big. It was cleared. Overall great service and I can appreciate not really serving drunk people. I always have a good service here.
One of the oldest bars in the historic Southtown/King William district of San Antonio. The historic building still holds the same walls that it did in the 1940s. The neon signs and some of the bar decorations are all vintage and alive, date back almost 4 generations, my favorite is an old Miller watch. The available pool table is also vintage and still costs 50 cents a game just like at the time, while most places will charge you the hour at an expensive price. The dartboard is definitely new, but it is one of the best dartboards in the city, tournament quality with all digital scoring. The new interior design has allowed more space for seating and meetings. The new bathrooms outside also allow more public use and less waiting time. Also the upper outdoor deck gives you a quiet view of the San Antonio Skyline and just a great place to absorb the outdoor atmosphere while you have a cold beer or cocktail in your hand. The outdoor terrace is also nice to get away from the inside, get fresh air or even have smoke. The Happy Hour menu is a steal, now with great craft cocktails on their menu. After Happy Hour everything is still decent, although those who complain can drink at home! Once an old beer and bar only bar, it is now a full bar well equipped with craft beers, excellent tequilas and satifying whiskys (only missing Wild Turkey 101 lol), 3 things Texans love the best! There is also a beautiful selection of gin, vodka, mezcal, traditonal domestics, and both red and white wines. The staff is excellent and exceeds customer expectations. The owner, Brian, is a busy man, but is very interactive when available. Kristi, the manager is very attentive and strict, but offers efficient service no less. The bartenders Charlie and Sofia are two hard hookers and deliver premieres and quality customer service with this hint of southern hospitality. The backbones of the Bar aka the Barrücken, Joseph and Edgar are up to ensure that the place is clean and tidy and are attentive to your needs. Doorman Josh and Steven do not play when it comes to the rules of the bars and make sure that the place is safe from unnecessary interactions. How could I forget the chef of Israel, he has served your food faster than a car through joints and sometimes it is only he served a fully packed facility. The man can do more with two hands than a person with 8 hands could. Cant beat the burgers, chicken sandwiches, or queso flameado. There are DJs on weekend Mr. Wayne, aka Tony Phoenix is a lively jukebox. All in All a great place for meetings, food, drinks and more.
It's exactly the place you're looking for a good time. People start arriving at 9 but packed by 10. Mostly friends groups there but people are friendly and mingle. Great bartenders. DJ is there playing crunk music and throwbacks. Love music in the back.
