Conroy's Grill - San Antonio

It was a slow Monday afternoon when our quest to find a new spot began, when alas on the hilltop we spotted this place from 281. We went in to be greeted by a friendly hostess she said the place was wide open and we could sit at the bar if we chose looking around there was one lonely patron at the bar so we joined him opposite side of bar to keep the bartender company. Looking around I could see why it was empty... there was Cleveland Browns flags and homage all over. Just kidding, maybe. There was TVs all around for viewing pleasure. There was 1 pool table and a stage for live bands. Overall it was a clean place despite the Browns stuff. The menu included a pretty wide variety burgers, chicken, wings, meatloaf, fish which included a Hong Kong Sea Bass, Philly Cheesesteak and plenty more. The bar was well stocked and had a nice selection of beers on tap including Yuengling Flight! The only complaint and reason for 4 stars is there are no frozen drinks available. That was a fail. We had great service and Bartender was friendly even through all the questions we had for her. Food was ok, I think the mashed potatoes were fresh because they were lumpy like homemade. Price is about average for these days some items were a little higher than I would expect. I would go back.

Our small group from church ate here on July 2, 2022. The food was amazing! It was fresh, hot and delicious! The menu is great!! Prices are decent. Our table was visited several times by the owner/ manager, Gary. We will definitely return!

We went to lunch here on a Monday about 1 pm and although it's summertime and located close to shopping areas on 281 north, it wasn't very crowded. It was short staffed, however, since our waiter, Lauren ? who happened to have a birthday that day, had a large area to take care of. She was an excellent waitress, though, and brought all of our food out as quickly as the kitchen prepared it. She was efficient, friendly, and made excellent recommendations. She even brought us soup samples to decide if we wanted to order it. We did, it was delicious! I'll ask for her section next time I visit. And I do plan to visit again since the food was also very good. There were 3 of us and we had a cheeseburger, a Reuben, and a Philly cheesesteak. Each order was hot and the sandwiches were overflowing. The buns/bread were toasty and warm and I even ate all my fries, which are more like steak fries, thicker than the McD's or other burger places. Crispy outside and soft inside. We had planned on eating only half of our entrees after ordering fried mushrooms/onion rings as appetizers; but we ate all the appetizers AND all our entrées since everything was so good. This is more of a bar/grill ambiance, very relaxed and low key. As I said, service was a little slower bc of staff shortage but the food and our waitress' service made it worth the wait!

The Fish was Excellent! Crispy not greasy. Fresh! Only thing missing was malt vinegar that i forgot to ask for. The potato wedges were ok. Definitely will be back for drinks the Fish!

We had company from overseas and we decided to take her to this yummy restaurant where there's a little bit of everything, and the food is delicious. Did I say that the food is so delicious? The combination of the flavors are on point. Despite that fact of the deliciousness (yup, can't say it enough , there were several mistakes that will prevent us from attending again. My husband ordered a large draft and it was the wrong size, well the waitress left it at the table. Later she brings the correct one, of course he was going to drink the one you left at the table! Have you seen a man that likes his beer, specially after a long week from work? Yeah... Exactly. We got charged for it, even though, it was her mistake. Don't leave it at the table, lady!!! Our drinks from the bar arrived just 2 minutes before our meal. That's was weird because you order your drinks, then the meal and when the meal arrives, you order another drink. Am I right on this one? If not, please correct me, cuz we made so many mistakes with this restaurant... everything was our fault. I order some food to go, and I asked her not to place the order immediately, that I would let her know. Well... Can you guess what happened... right!? We didn't finished our plates and the to go order was ready...and guess what... the check as well. So for me, that was a sign, and I really wanted a dessert . so I said to myself... not today Jenny While reading the invoice, we learned that there was a charge for her wrong size if the beer... According to the manager, that's was definitely our mistake because she left it at the table and of course my husband drank it. And there was a Surcharge of 4.00% (if you pay with credit card the surcharge was not our main concern, but when we asked about it (cuz we didn't know the answer that we got was not convincing. He said: it has always been like that!??? .. nahhh... doesn't convince me. But anyway... I can say that we are regulars, giving the fact that we go at least every 9 weeks. But my husband and I love to explore and try other restaurants, including during the weekends. We are great supporters of the small businesses, we know things are getting pretty hard for them and us too. P.S. I can still taste de Chicken Fried Chicken in my mouth and I am getting hungry again. Please give them a second chance. (Taste buds doing what they always do .
