Merit Coffee - San Antonio

Having traveled around the country for the past 10+ yrs, I've been able to enjoy a number of coffee shops, and Merit Coffee is one of my favorites. However the cold and down right rude encounter I had after being so happy I was able to make it before they closed was one of the worst customer service interactions I've had. Not only did I feel unwelcomed, but half of the group with me declined from ordering coffee upon witnessing my interaction. I don't blame the owners, but they definitely should know as I'm sure this isn't the customer service they strive to offer.

I frequent this location and their AC has been out for 2 weeks???? The workers are having to work in these conditions and look like they’re about to pass out. It’s too hot outside which makes it hot inside. You can’t just have fans blowing hot air around the building. It does nothing. The owners need to do something or shut down the shop until the AC is fixed. Ridiculous. Merit, do better. Care about your employees!

I’m a regular and consider this my “office”. Great cold brew and pour over, great customer service….its a great coffee shop to work, have a meeting, Bible study, etc. people complaining about the AC, don’t blame the owner. They don’t own the building. So it’s not easy to just call up an AC company and have it replaced. I’m sure they had to go through the property manager which we all know, it’s not always easy nor quick when having to get repairs for a rental…

I hopefully will be back to amend my review soon. but sadly AC is broken, several patrons were fanning themselves with their hands, and no temporary fixes are in place. the heat is unbearable. almond croissant was decent. the table arrangement is strange- there's no place to sit without being in direct line of the door or awkwardly close to the queue at the register. there are plenty of plugs to work at. the service is excellent and an employee was very polite and apologetic when asking me to move my car for the tow truck to bring in the new AC. I suspect the employees aren't happy with their PTO. please give them PTO!

Service sucks. Atmosphere sucks. Pretentious AF. It took way too long for drinks. Definitely not returning to any Merit location.
