Magnolia Pancake Haus - San Antonio

My party was not allowed to be seated because one out of the five of us were a couple of minutes away from the restaurant. We then had to wait an extra 20 minutes or so. None of the other restaurants I frequent have this type of questionable rule. The food was pretty good overall but the avocado I ordered was not ripe yet. The restaurant is fairly loud. They have you pay at the front and stand in line again to pay. This restaurant could easily be improved by management making some fairly small changes.

Quite an experience. Staff is friendly, well trained. We had a host in training, and while you don't typically care to see the actual training going on, you can definitely see the instruction and care for the job that you don't see in the average run of the mill restaraunt. Food is excellent and cooked well with generous but not over the top portions. If you go, you have to try the Apfel Pfannekuchen. Be aware it's loaded with apples, if you don't like them, don't get it. Also this dish is for 2 or 3 people to share, especially after having a meal, maybe even a fourth. Also, excellent coffee, can you please teach Starbucks (my wife likes them, not me how to make it? They only get away with what they make by loading everything with sugar and syrup and whipped cream, they can't make a decent coffee to save the franchise. Anyways! Back to Magnolia, great overall, try it. If I had to make one complaint it's they don't use enough salt in cooking their dishes (eggs, hash browns, grits, etc. , however this is a very minor complaint. You have to try this place.

I had lunch with a friend today at MPH. I hadn't been before since I heard they were always crazy busy at breakfast time, but I see why! I ordered the ham cheese sammy and my friend had some avocado toast and a side of eggs. My food was so fresh and delicious, served with strawberries. I also ordered orange juice, which was fresh and delicious as well. The service was quick and the atmosphere pleasant. Would definitely eat here again!

We loved having our brunch the new location! The food was delightful and the service was really good too!
