Mr C's Chicken Waffles - San Antonio

Due to some understaffing issues, appetizers and entrées were brought out as they were prepared, which I actually preferred in this temporary situation. It allowed each of us to enjoy our meals while they were warm and gave us the chance to sample each other’s dishes. The cornbread was slightly dry, but it had great flavor—not too sweet and not too bland. The deviled eggs were excellent, well-seasoned and beautifully piped. The Monte Cristo was perfectly fried, not just a French toast sandwich, and it was SO delicious! The jelly and preserves served with it were fantastic—I even asked for more for my biscuits. I loved the ice they used, served in large mason jars for drinks; it reminded me of Sonic's ice, but even better. The banana pudding was delightful, and the whipped cream appeared to be homemade. While I always enjoy waffle-cut fries, the country potatoes here surpassed them—they were well-cooked and well-seasoned. The atmosphere was charming, and the waitstaff were very friendly. I will definitely return, even if there are delays. I am looking forward to trying lunch or dinner, and I would gladly do brunch again. Once the staff is fully back, I’m sure it will be even better than our first visit.

First off, I have to say WOW!!! The best fried chicken I’ve ever had was in North Carolina, and this place is just as good! The mac and cheese is fantastic! You absolutely have to try the fried green tomatoes!!! The cornbread was the best I've ever tasted, and the fried chicken was packed with flavor—crispy and like a heavenly blessing! This is the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with your family right after church on a Sunday. The customer service was also very friendly. I will definitely be returning to try more items from the menu. Oh, and the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food you get.

The fried catfish is excellent from texture to seasoning waffle fries as well. We tried the raspberry pork chops which surprisingly work well together. The candied yams wasn't quite right though like they boiled them then tried to sear them quickly but forgot the sugar or something, the sweet corn tasted sweeter. The macaroni was okay it tasted like they used sharp cheddar and was a little dry (if possible try to eat it with bacon), the cabbage with bacon was done right though. The waffles weren't great though it's big and smells sweet but it's just a pancake shaped like a soft waffle. Cornbread was delicious though and I liked that they served the drinks in a Mason jar. It was hella cold in the restaurant though it made the food get cold quickly and my mom had to even wear a blanket just to stay eating here LOL.

Delicious!!! We had blueberry waffles, scrambled eggs, and fried chicken. Portions were ample and I needed a to-go. If you order the Mr. C Sampler make sure you have a huge appetite!

I had been wanting chicken and waffles for awhile. Decided to give this place a try. Loved it!! Waitress was courteous. Brought our drinks. She brought us sweet corn bread. It was awesome!! Tried the green fried tomatoes. Crispy and delicious. The fried chicken was hot and super crispy and the waffles were super tasty. Butter melted right off the waffles. Hubby had the Philly cheese steak sandwich and waffle fries. Was hot off the grill...super tasty. Fries were crispy and hot. Great seasoning. Would definitely go back and try other menu items. Price was just right for the large portions.
