Feedback gevenI'm not reviewing the original Barn Door but the new Barn Door located off of Highway 151. The original Barn Door is a San Antonio gem. Prime food, a charmingly quirky atmosphere, hams hanging from the ceiling, business cards tacked to the walls, uniformed wait staff and a cozy equestrian-themed bar well set off from the dining area are all parts of what makes the Barn Door a special place to dine. With out-of-town guests who had visited the original in the past I was excited to take them to the new location. I was sadly disappointed. I must say that the food was still quite good. The new building is chic with painted cement floors, a high heavily beamed ceiling and is brightly lit. The bar is adjacent to the dining area. The atmosphere is almost cafeteria-like in the large echoing building with the constant din of conversation and the clatter of the kitchen. The wait staff was disappointing, seemly focused on rushing one table out to make way for the next. For the true Barn Door experience, choose the original, the new Barn Door simply doesn't make the grade.
