Nine, Chris and Mimi are wonderful at making all patrons feel welcome. Saturday night (or was it Friday night?? there was a DJ playing music next door which was cool as well. Overall, we are hooked and would never go to any other sushi spot in San Bruno but KOBE SAKE.
I need to preface this review of a sushi restaurant with the fact that I don't eat fish. That said, this place did not disappoint. The decor is colorful, service quick and personable. The bar tender makes up some great combos (soju/sake). I had the Hawaiian steak which was delicious but a bit expensive for what it was. I also had a custom made extra spicy veggie roll, which had Serrano chilies on top of it as well as a spicy creamy sauce, this was amazing! Yes sushi w/sauce isn't true sushi form (darned purists), but here they let their creativity flow, and it works. Plenty of free parking and make sure you say hi to the owners Mimi and Nine.
Came here to celebrate a good friends birthday. As we waited for the rest of the large party to arrive we had great margarita slushy cocktails from the (sake/soju? bar. For us being such a large party, they were so patient and accomidating with us. After being seated we learned that the owners (Mimi and her brother Nine work here and took care of us, Mimi taking our orders and Nine behind the sushi bar. This place has reasonable prices, great service, nice ambiance (live DJ , plenty of free parking and fantastic decor were enough to keep me coming back....but the SUSHI OMG... just let them get creative for you. Tell them what you like (spicy, crunchy, garlicy, etc. and they will build you something AMAZING. They like to use the freshest fish and veggies, uncommon items (like serrrano chillies and house made sauces in their rolled creations. I know understand why the birthday girl and her husband are regulars here.
The place sushi place in this area. The chefs are very creative and really care about how food tastes. Specially if you get the cray roll it is different every time you can request the specific kind of fish you like.
Very fresh fish, nice environment. The rolls could have been executed a bit better, but overall good sushi spot
