Pahk Soi - San Bruno

As you walk there, you can catch a glimpse of the small kitchen with two stoves and the chef hard at work. The woman at the front is incredibly friendly and helpful, explaining each dish to you. They display several food items on the counter, especially the daily special and desserts. The seating area is just outside under a tent in the temple’s front yard. We tried the daily special yellow curry, a spicy fish dish with eggplant, pad Thai, crispy pan-fried mussels with eggs, pandan jelly, and mango with sticky rice. Overall, the portions are generous, and the flavors of the curry and spicy fish are rich and vibrant. The curry isn’t spicy at all, but the sauce is excellent for scooping up with rice. The Pad Thai tastes fresh, with the sauce well-distributed among the noodles, which have a nice chewy texture, indicating freshness. The pan-fried mussels with egg are similar to Taiwanese oyster cakes, but the mussels are large, plump, and delicious. The pandan jelly is softer than I expected, with a gooey texture and a strong coconut flavor. The mango sticky rice is sweet, especially the mango, which is ripe, juicy, and much better than many other restaurants, even without any coconut sauce on top. The only item I wouldn’t recommend is the Thai tea; while it is sweet, it lacks a strong tea flavor. However, at $2, it’s not a big loss. Entrees are $10 each, and dessert is $5—what a great value for the quality, quantity, and service! There are so many other dishes we want to try, so we’ll definitely plan another hiking trip to Pacifica! By the way, they only accept cash and Venmo.

One of the top spots in San Bruno! It has a fantastic community vibe in a serene setting. While Thai cuisine is delicious on its own, the dishes here are prepared with care, and it truly reflects in the flavor.

We went to the restaurant today around one o'clock, and it wasn't too crowded. We enjoyed some desserts, including the pandan coconut layer cake and mango sticky rice, which were both delicious. Our Pad Thai and Pad See arrived in just ten minutes, and we loved every dish we ordered! The customer service was excellent; they even brought our food to our table, which we really appreciated. Oh, and by the way, they also offer massage services! :)

Incredible food from the temple on weekends. All the ingredients a quite fresh. It’s a hidden gem!
