I'm not sure if they need to season or marinate it more, but it's definitely missing something. The fries are excellent though.
The cheesesteak was ok. Neither of us could finish even the 1/3 lb version. Hard to eat. Quite unlike what you get in the Midwest. The ketchup for the fries appeared to be a pale imitation of Heinz.
I used to come here weekly when I worked in the area years ago. I recently was in the peninsula, so I made a point of stopping by for lunch. When I walked in, the interior looked completely different. I 'm not sure how long ago it was done, but there was significant remodeling. The kitchen area is no longer open for viewing due to all the new signage. There 's a new, large bar-height table. The restaurant felt a little cramped from before. They had TV screen menus too, so it doesn 't really have the old school feel anymore. Unfortunately, the food wasn 't the same either. And it all came down to the bread roll. It was sliced open, but not enough. Looking down on it, it looked great. But looking at the side profile, it was very V-shaped, with most of the meat at the top and very little on the bottom. This made it difficult to eat because it was so uneven. The top was too thick to get a clean bite out of. And subsequently the bottom bites were 90% bread. On top of that, the bread was much thicker overall than it used to be. So the proportions were completely off. Flavor and meat quality was still good. But they should really work on getting those proportions dialed back in. That is so key in determining what makes any sandwich good. Pricing is slightly higher than other cheesesteak places I 've been to recently. But nothing crazy high, relatively. Pricing is up everywhere, so it is what it is. I 'll probably give them another shot eventually, for old times ' sake. But for now, I won 't be going out of my way to grab a bite here.
The best Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches so far! After going here for YEARS, years ago. We were in search of the best cheesesteak place and still haven't compared to Joe's. We always come back. We are still looking for another with the same size, quality, quantity, taste and price just to look...haha. Been to Philadelphia already where the best Philly's are but still not the same. I still love Joe's Zucchini sticks and even their fries. We sometimes, order it to go but it's just not the same. It's always best to order and eat everything there. I didn't go here for a bit and they finally did a nice makeover with more tables, some high tables but with those metal square chairs. Not the most comfy but it's not for you to linger all day. It's their statement of get out of their; we gotta serve the other folks! Haha Comfortable and modern. They now offer wines, other beers, hard seltzers and other beverages like Starbucks, tea, milk, water, etc. They also have cold salads and coleslaw, too. The other menu items they had are still the same but I notice the $3 milkshake and now have happy hour prices during the weekday on beer and fries; not bad. Service is still good and friendly. Pretty fast on their service as they make it hot and fresh for you. Will be going here for years to come and have brought others. They love it, too. There is another location in Half Moon Bay but too far. Totally recommend this place. Parking: They share parking lot with other stores but plenty to park.
As soon as I walked in, I noticed it was quite chilly, but I really loved the restaurant's interior. The food is incredible—especially the cheesesteaks, which are fantastic! I also can’t get enough of the milkshakes.
