Great service, traditional bean/rice/meat dishes. Don’t ignore the Cuban Sandwich the ham is roasted and sliced thick, paired with tender pork.
My wife randomly mentioned that she wanted to try Cuban food, so I looked up some restaurants in the San Diego area, and we decided to give one a shot. Neither of us had ever experienced Cuban cuisine before, so it felt like an adventure. We knew that plantains are a key ingredient in Cuban dishes, so we made sure to try them. We ordered a pork sandwich made with plantains instead of bread, and papas rellenas, which are potato balls filled with ground beef, battered, and fried. Both dishes were fantastic! We will definitely return to explore more of the menu. The only downside was that we ended up waiting quite a while after finishing our meal for the check. Eventually, we decided to walk up to the counter to pay, as we weren't quite sure how they preferred to handle payments.
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles, and the delightful scent of garlic filled the air. The drive here was definitely worth it, especially since I had my heart set on the mofongo, which is only available on Sundays. The staff enthusiastically said yes when we asked about it, and we were thrilled! We discovered this hidden gem on Instagram and are so glad we chose Andrés for dinner tonight while on vacation from Tampa. Thank you for making our evening so special!
