They made a mistake with my order and gave me two servings instead, which was a nice gesture, but the coffee was too large for my liking. The latte itself was lackluster and not hot enough for my taste. I much preferred the coffee at Oliver's.
Update: The seasonal vegan lavender cold foam drink has been discontinued, and the original Matcha drink is not vegan unless specified. I am disappointed that they removed the vegan cold foam option, which has led me to lower my rating from 4 stars to 2 stars. The lack of options, inconsistent quality of coffee, and removal of vegan products have contributed to this decision. Although I understand that it was a seasonal item, I believe that a vegan cold foam option would have been well-received. It was frustrating to find out that some supposedly vegan items actually contain milk powder. The staff seems to be unaware of what is truly vegan, so it's best to ask the baristas for clarification. If I were in the area, I would rather visit a smaller coffee shop or a chain that offers more vegan options and clear guidance online. A good alternative in the Hillcrest area is XMarket. Personally, I'm not a coffee drinker, but I can vouch for the quality of the vegan Matcha drinks. I always prefer supporting vegan establishments because it guarantees that the products are vegan and there are more dairy-free options available. If only they still had the cold foam option! Updated review as of October 2, 2021.
Update: The vegan lavender cold foam matcha drink was only available seasonally, and the original matcha drink is not vegan unless specifically stated. I am disappointed that the vegan cold foam was removed. Because of the limited options, mediocre coffee (which I have since tried and my friends agree can be hit or miss), and the lack of vegan products, I am lowering my rating from 4 stars to 2. I believe a vegan cold foam option would be beneficial, especially in this area. I have asked more questions since my initial review and found that very few items are actually vegan if you add the powder, which is labeled as dairy-free but still contains less than 1% milk, making it non-vegan. Some staff members are knowledgeable about vegan options, while others are not. It is best to ask the baristas directly for accurate information. Personally, I would recommend visiting a smaller coffee shop or even Starbucks, which offers more vegan choices and has online guides to help you select a suitable option.
This place was bumping when I ordered a latte with almond milk. They messed up my order and offered to give me two servings of my order which was nice but I don’t need too big coffees. The latte itself was underwhelming and not hot enough for me. I enjoyed Oliver Coffee a lot more.
This restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere. The staff are genuinely friendly and the food, tea, and coffee are excellent. They really pay attention to the little details, showing how much they care about being there. Overall, a great new addition to the neighborhood.
