Buta Japanese Ramen - San Diego

My wife and I have visited this restaurant multiple times in the past week, which is surprising because she is usually very selective about trying new places. We both ordered the same dish and I even got two to-go orders one day, which I enjoyed eating in the van during my wife's lunch break. This has become our go-to spot for vegan options in San Diego and I even frequent it when my wife goes out with colleagues.

I have tried all three vegan ramens, the mock duck, and the gyoza, and they were all delicious! This restaurant will definitely be a regular spot for me and my friends.

I absolutely loved the ramen at this restaurant! I ordered the golden curry ramen with mock duck and the vegetable gyoza, and they were both delicious. I highly recommend them. My friend ordered the soul you ramen with crispy tofu and also really enjoyed it. The restaurant itself is very cute, the wait staff is friendly and attentive, and the prices are reasonable. This place serves meat but it has 3 vegan ramen options, which is way more than I’m used to for Omni ramen restaurants. I tried the curry ramen with mock duck and it was absolutely delicious. I was very pleasantly surprised. Very flavorful and well rounded. The mock duck had the right amount of crunch and chewiness and it was very well seasoned. The broth was delicious. My Omni husband tried mine and his reaction was “oh wow.” He called it amazing, which is saying a lot for someone who thinks vegan food sometimes lacks flavor and depth (boo! . We’re visiting SD for a few days, and we stopped by on our way back to the hotel from LEGOLAND. We got it to go, so I can’t speak for the sit down experience. Staff were nice and the wait was short. We loved this place so much, we will be returning before we go home. Highly recommend! Edit: came back and tried a few other things.. all amazing! Though they have managed to make their menu more confusing to figure out what is vegan, the vegan options here are solid. Plus they are the only ones who do mock duck in ramen. Updated from previous review on 2020-02-26
