Their toasted subs have earned a stellar reputation, and I was eager to investigate the buzz surrounding this popular chain. In this review, I will share my experience at Cheba Hut, highlighting standout menu items like the White Widow and Thai Stick. Upon entering Cheba Hut, I was immediately welcomed by a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The rustic-chic decor, featuring wooden accents and vibrant colors, created a warm and cozy setting. The open kitchen added an element of excitement, letting diners see the culinary magic unfold. The staff was friendly and enthusiastic, making me feel right at home. I began my culinary journey with the White Widow, a delicious sub filled with tender chicken, crispy bacon, creamy avocado, and melted provolone cheese, all housed in a crispy baguette. The first bite was nothing short of revelatory. The various textures harmonized beautifully, with each ingredient complementing the others in a delightful blend of flavors. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, the bacon provided a satisfying crunch, the avocado added creaminess, and the provolone cheese enriched the entire experience with its rich, smooth texture. Next, I explored the Thai Stick, a vegetarian creation featuring grilled tofu, crispy tempeh, shredded carrots, cucumber, cilantro, and a spicy Thai peanut sauce, all nestled in a soft, fluffy baguette. This sub was a vibrant explosion of flavors, with every bite delivering a delightful balance of sweet, savory, and spicy notes. Overall, Cheba Hut truly elevates the sandwich game, making it a must-visit for food lovers.
This restaurant features an incredibly cool decor that has a unique blend of Ron Burgundy meets a laid-back stoner vibe. The ambiance isn't the only highlight; their food and drinks are creatively named and quite delicious. I tried the AK-47, which is their take on the French dip, and paired it with the Dirty Hippie cocktail—a refreshing mix of cucumber, ginger, lemon, and vodka. My friend ordered the White Widow, a chicken bacon ranch dish, along with some Kool-Aid, and she couldn't stop raving about how tasty it was. I will definitely be returning!
I initially thought this place was just a joke, but one day while walking down El Cajon Boulevard, I spotted a Cheba Hut in person. I decided to go in and ordered a 5-0 because, at first glance, it had the most meat, and I hadn't eaten in over two hours.
This place is awesome no matter what time of the day the service has always been great. Food is great and having a alcoholic drink to wash it down makes it that much more of a cool vibe
Kali Mist is the go to. Sandwiches here are amazing.
