Verbena Kitchen - San Diego

I made a reservation a month in advance and confirmed it the night before. When I arrived with my group, the restaurant was unexpectedly closed, with no warning or notice given. I emailed management for an explanation, and they claimed they hadn’t received any reservation notice from OpenTable. However, that still doesn’t account for why the restaurant was closed during its regular business hours.

I had reservations for today, April 30th, at 12:30 pm. Showed up to the restaurant with my guests, on time, after finally finding parking, and the restaurant is closed!!! Unbelievable.

The food is soooo good. My friends and I loved and for sure will go back there. The waiter was very sympathetic and professional. The only thing that I could complain is that was too noisy for a moment not all the time, but I almost couldn’t hear my friends). I super recommend this place.

The drinks were outstanding! I ordered a passionfruit cocktail and would gladly have it again ten times. The food was a bit on the pricey side for the portion sizes, but that's pretty standard these days. The service was exceptional; our waitress was wonderful. The atmosphere was perfect for conversation, and the chairs were both stylish and comfortable.

Cool little spot for a date night. Great deal on the oysters! Creative cocktails. But honestly, the food, though fresh and light, flavors lacked any serious interest/depth. They all just seemed rather muted honestly, especially for the price. I think a reasonable place for a happy hour drink and quick small bite, but I wouldn't go there for dinner.
