I had the luck to meet that who works in the kitchen, in the register of a day and she explained all the vegan elements: all the chat are vegan only ask for no rita (yoghurt.) most dosas are vegan, but those with cheese are obviously not. the desi-chinese sweetfritter rice is vegan and so delicious (I do not ask for any extra chili oil, except what they use to marinate it), and if they want an Indian rice, the biryani is vegan. the desi-plant frying has a tonne sweet in it, but what is brilliant. many items on thali/combo are also vegan, such as the chana masala, the undhiya, the bhindi masala (okra), punjabi daal, and gobi murm (what is phenomenal.) of course the veggie frankies is also vegan, but not the best menu item imo. if they are not sure what vegan is and it is their first doala that would be there. the coconut cahutney that comes with it is vegan, as well as the two tomato cahutneys, but the cocosnus is really good. oh yes, and the sambhar (like a spicy one-pot) that comes with the dosa is also vegan. updated by the previous review on 2019-10-16
We stopped here twice for good Indian food. they order at the counter and pick up the items after they are prepared for them. the casser is patient and describes the articles that help them choose. although ghee used and in some straight milk. our dishes were delicious and fresh.
It is not regrettable that this spot does not have a vegan or vegan selected menu. the extensive offers are so tempting, but each question of is this vegan requires several trips to find out the kitchen - a skill I hate to throw on the staff. So I'm stuck in the one thing I know is vegan: the veggie frankie. it's a little different everyone visits. sometimes it is extra spicy, sometimes it is loaded with black salt, but always its hot and satisfying.
They have a whole series of foods, from desi-Chinese (including the nudel dosa I had) to gujurati snacks to traditional dosas. eating was quite good with moderate (but not large) portion sizes. right next door is an Indian food store, miramar cash and carry (they are connected) the only minusses...fast a few milk/cassies, and the sambar was not quite spicy enough (but still tastes good.) I think surati farsan mart (similar food) is a bit better.
My family and I dine at this restaurant every week, sometimes even multiple times. The prices are very affordable and the portions are quite generous. They offer a wide variety of options on the vegan menu, although some staff members at the register may not be well-informed about what is and isn't vegan. Fortunately, I had the pleasure of meeting Dhruthi, who works in the kitchen, and she explained all the vegan options to me. I learned that all the chat items are vegan if you request no raita (yogurt). Most of the dosas are vegan, except for the ones with cheese. The Desi Chinese vegetable fried rice is vegan and incredibly tasty (I prefer it with minimal chili oil). The biryani is also a great vegan option if you're looking for Indian-style rice. Additionally, the Desi vegetable fried rice is packed with veggies, which is fantastic. Many items on the thali/combo menu are vegan, such as chana masala, undhiya, bhindi masala (okra), punjabi daal, and gobi mutter. The veggie frankies are vegan as well, although they may not be the best choice in my opinion. If you're unsure about what to order and it's your first visit, I highly recommend trying the masala dosa. The coconut chutney and two tomato chutneys that come with it are all vegan, with the coconut chutney being a personal favorite. Don't forget to enjoy the sambhar, a spicy stew that accompanies the dosa and is also vegan.
