Ok. The food was really quite good. Wine too! However they used far too many types of lighting fixtures and wood textures in the restaurant design. Octopus tomato salad was fantastic. Pay attention to how many different lighting fixtures and wood types used in the establishment.
Great lunch spot and great blend of flavors. The staff knew what to recommend and it was spot on.
Amazing Vietnamese food. Great portions and great prices. Trendy without being pretentious. My friend and I got a table immediately walking in on a Monday without a reservation. She’s a vegetarian and enjoyed the spring rolls and vegan pho. I like the bun cha (pork meatballs and noodles). Only paid $25 each for two entrees and an appetizer, a lot of food. Pretty messy eating, so not a great date or interview meal.Vegetarian options: The waitress knew which options were vegetarian. There were only three choices.
Bodega, located at 138 Mason St, San Francisco, is a delightful Vietnamese eatery that brings a slice of the country’s street food culture to the city.Overall 3.88/5; Service: 3.5/5, , The Banh Cuon $13) serves up a delightful combination of ground pork and wood ear mushrooms nestled in steamed rice rolls, beautifully presented on a bamboo plate, instantly transporting you to the vibrant streets of Vietnam's capital. Next on my menu was the Bo Luc Lac $19), a famed street food dish with filet mignon imbued with the unique taste of Maggi sauce and butter. Another good choice is the Dry Hu Tieu $16), a spin on a popular Southern Vietnamese rice noodle dish originated from Phnom Penh. To integrate all these wonderful flavors on a hot day, I would suggest the Vietnamese Iced Coffee – you can request less condensed milk if you prefer a bolder flavor. The ambiance is inviting and the place spotless, contributing to an overall pleasing dining experience. However, Bodega could work on a few areas for improvement to enhance their offerings. 1) The rice rolls and sauce could be served warmer, 2) the fried potatoes could do with a bit more crunch, and 3) the service, while charming, would do well with a bit more speed, especially when requesting the bill. Nonetheless, Bodega earns a well-deserved 3.88/5 for its wonderful Vietnamese fare.
