Lowered the rating because they started to charge a 15% service fee (even on a single order) and still have the tip jar out. Their need put up a sign stating that you are already paying a 15% tip. Also, order off of the printed traditional menu like the regulars do. The buffet line is for tourists.
Go to Cantonese food restaurant always fresh tasty dishes and will customize for spice levels. Friendly service have been going to Ming's for over 15 years!
One of the few cheap decent chinese/taiwanese quick eat spots in financial district/ upper east cut area. attracts both art students and, white collar and blue collar workers. They are open for Lunch and Dinner Service, where Dinner is a more a la Carte menu. They have the typical chinese-american premade deal combos, (1 item, 2 item, and 3 item combo). Steam Rice is inclusive, whereas Fried Rice, Chow Mein, or Veggie base is additional item cost. Rice Plates are freshly made, must recommend the Ma Po Tofu (Mapo Tofu), Bittermelon with choice of meat Stir-fry, Shrimp Lobster Sauce over rice, Crispy Noodle dishes, Chinese pancakes, and XO Sauce dishes. For premade lunch items, Basil Eggplant Tofu, Orange Chicken, Salt Pepper Chicken, Salt Pepper Pork are a must try.
First time trying this place out. Nice little place. They have an eccentric menu. We went with walnut shrimp and house special fried rice. Tasted like traditional seasonings. Very delicious. Service was good and staff was friendly. Will be back
11/2023: Ordered for pickup via Uber. Interior is very bare and atmosphere doesn’t feel like much but the food was great hot, seemingly fresh, with enough spice to taste but not too much to burn.
