Fresh seafood, cold drinks and a pleasant atmosphere.
So let's start off with this is really just Taqueria Vallarte from down the street with a facelift cuz they're being remodeled. That out the way! Ok. Stopped here craving some seafood delight and a little booze for my late, late lunch. Honestly was not impressed. I ordered the 2 tostadas for $16. It came pretty stacked tall with shrimp, fish and octopus since I asked for the Mixta. I was happy with the portion size but the shrimp tasted frozen so it made me question everything else. Could've been tolerated but it didn't seem like there was any intention in seasoning them, bummer. Ordered a Michelada Sencilla that means Simple for those of us who are. Nothing spectacular. It was aight. The spot was quiet when I walked in. They attempted to play some music but it sounded like the speaker blew out. Service subpar. Maybe not so good as a seafood spot but might be better as a taco joint alone. Of course, it's Vallarta. With all that said, I won't be seeing them again :
Came in here for a late Saturday lunch so it was pretty chill and easy to be seated. They also have a couple tables outside which is a nice way to enjoy the weather and people watch while eating. Service is pretty nice and helpful. We were going to order an additional plate for our almost 2 year old but our server told us it would plenty of food to share with him and he was right! They gave us some chips and salsa which tasted fresh and the salsa I really liked. It had some spice to it. I ordered the Huevos Con Chorizo it wasn't spicy and a large portion. It came with refried beans and rice. Taste was alright. Needed more flavor I think but decent. My husband got the Chilaquiles with steak it tasted pretty decent. We didn't have a huge appetite but if we did we would've ordered some of the seafood dishes they have like coctel de camaron or ceviche. It looks seafood is more their specialty here. Overall pretty decent lunch and if we come back we would definitely try the seafood dishes.
Ordered a regular pastor burrito, menu board said $10.99. When I got it, it tasted like carnitas more than pastor- dry, burned almost. I suspect they gave me the wrong thing because the pastor on the spit looked a lot better.Anyway, I went with it, it was OK but not amazing. The service wasn't anything other than take the order and give me a plate with a foil-wrapped burrito on it, and a glass of water. When I asked for the bill I saw the total with tax and everything was $14.12 and put down a $20. I think they were hoping I'd leave it all as a tip, but about 5 minutes later they brought me $5 in change, a single bill. As I didn't have any ones, I ended up giving them a 30% tip. Actually, since I believed the burrito was $10.99 from what it said on the menu board I ended up giving them a 50% tip. Not cool. After looking over the receipt I noticed that there was a $13 charge for the burrito. They also charge a $0.52 service fee that they credit if you pay in cash.Anyway. A disappointing $20 lunch. Definitely don't recommend.
