I can't believe I've lived in San Francisco and have never been here until now! A wonderfully eccentric interior of plants and donated art from customers hangs from every square inch of the walls; the atmosphere is both inspiringly unique and quintessentially San Francisco. I'm writing from the perspective of a vegetarian, so I can't comment on the quality of the fish, but my lunch was as good as it gets for vegetarian sushi in the city. Annie, who has owned the restaurant for 18 years, was a joy to talk with on the quiet afternoon that I had lunch. All of the ingredients were fresh, and the portions generous. It's hard to find a sushi restaurant that make miso soup without a fish base, which was an added bonus. I've found my new sushi spot in the city!
Living in the inner Richmond this has become a top sushi place for me. The place is run by an old Japanese couples that have decked out the place with tons of plants and Japanese art. The sushi is always top notch, they do not have all kinds of crazy rolls but they always have made quality sushi very consistently. While there are more than 5 other sushi spots close by, this is my favorite for the quality, ambiance and is the relatively the cheapest around.
Miso soup, sushi, and sauces are delicious. Salad dressing is homemade and wonderful. Tempura sauce was different than any other I've had and in a good way! I'll be back!
Very nice family that runs this place...decent quality fish.
