They have a vegan sloppy joe, tofu po boy, and deep fried veggies po boy with okra, cauliflower and sweet potato. And for sides they have a vegan potato salad, succotash, and garlic sautéed spinach. I got the veggie po boy, succotash, and potato salad and all were quite decent in my book, especially the sandwich. I would not mind going here again.
The menu lists a vegan option, Vegan Josephine, and claims its the best tofu you can wrap you're mouth around. Like the other reviewer mentioned, it's sloppy Joe style on a bun, but for me not at all delicious. I'd like to be grateful that they offer a vegan entree but instead felt tricked and ripped off. It seemed like mashed, warmed tofu in a bbq like sauce heaped over a hamburger style bun. It was just gross.
The corn succotash omelette and of course the beignets would highly recommend. I really enjoyed eating at brenda. even at 9 o'clock on Sunday morning the place was packed. I liked that they have the waitress on a big chalkboard right at the door. the portions were huge. the buffalo bunny that came with the omelette had a kind of spicy in it that I really liked. that was also my first time that beignets ever tried and I think they turned out to be as good as I had imagined it was.
Top spot in sf for southern food. the fried cats and the fried chicken have delicious, unique broth and the sides were incredible. they would recommend the gum suit for those who are not too hungry, it is a smaller size and comes with just enough kick. despite our late arrival at 8:30 a.m., the food came fresh and the service was attentive.
