While we regret not capturing a photo of our meal (we devoured it all before the thought crossed our minds! , the flavors and quality of the dishes we enjoyed definitely deserve a mention. We savored a variety of dim sum offerings, including the succulent Chicken Siu Mai, crispy Fried Pork Rolls, flavorful Shanghai Dumplings, and a generous serving of rice suitable for 3 to 4 people. Each dish was expertly prepared, showcasing fresh ingredients and traditional flavors that delighted our taste buds. The highlight of our meal was undeniably the Shanghai Dumplings, bursting with rich broth and tender meat in every bite. The Chicken Siu Mai was a hit as well with their juicy filling and delicate wrappers. The Fried Pork Rolls were perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with savory goodness inside. Although we were initially disappointed at our oversight of not snapping a photo to capture the delicious spread, our experience at City View Restaurant was truly enjoyable. The ambiance was pleasant, service was ok, and the food was satisfying. We left with happy hearts and full stomachs, eager to return for another round of delectable dim sum delights. If you find yourself craving authentic and flavorful dim sum in a welcoming environment, City View Restaurant in Chinatown, San Francisco, is definitely worth a visit. Just remember to snap a photo of your meal before digging in unlike us!
My friends and I stopped by City View restaurant on the day of the San Francisco Chinese New Year parade. It was busy! But hey, we wanted some dim sum but it's a bummer that they aren't doing the carts anymore. The prices have jumped up and so has the atmosphere of the restaurant. The restaurant looks more upscale now and service was very efficient. My friends and I ordered all sorts of items including the soup dumplings aka xiao long bao, the fried taro, pork buns, shiu mai, the sticky rice and also the rice noodle sheets with shrimp. Everything was really delicious and I wish we ordered more food because we were still hungry but it was pretty pricey for just three people. I highly recommend going here to get dim sum but more like a snack because you'll probably be hungry still. You can easily get more snacks and drinks walking around Chinatown afterwards. Love how clean the restaurant is, love the vibe and the service was organized and efficient.
This restaurant was definitely good! The ambience was very clean and looked fancy and nice. We waited about 10 minutes for a group of 5 on a Sunday afternoon. They didn't have traditional carts coming around although there were a few people who came around. The rice rolls we got were delicious, the shu mai and other dim sum items were also good. The basics were done right! No complaints. The sautéed green beans came in a smaller bowl than I thought, but they were good nonetheless. Their steamed buns were probably my favorite pick though. An interesting dish that I would try again are the fried rice rolls? In sauce? I forgot what they were exactly but the texture was unique yet so good and the sauce was interesting too. If you go here, definitely get this dish because I think this was the show stopper. Despite being full, I kept going back for more!
Shrimp Dumplings: These delicate dumplings burst with flavor, and the shrimp filling is perfectly tender. Shanghai Siu Lung Bao: The soup-filled dumplings are a delightful surprise. Each bite releases a savory explosion in your mouth. Pork Siu Mai: These little parcels of joy are steamed to perfection. The combination of pork and shrimp is delicious. Crab Claws: Crispy on the outside, succulent on the inside. The crab claws are a must-try! Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll: Silky rice noodles envelop plump shrimp, which tastes ok for me, not my favorite. Chicken Feet: They're flavorful and tender. Peking Duck with Lotus Bun: The crispy duck skin, paired with soft lotus buns, is a match made in culinary heaven. Black Bean Spareribs: These fall-off-the-bone ribs are richly seasoned with black bean sauce. The service is attentive, and the ambiance is cozy!
Delicious dim sum restaurant located in San Francisco's Chinatown. While slightly more expensive than other dim sum spots, it is a fantastic option for a sit-down dim sum experience.
