Pros: Touristy, quick, funCons: Not cheap, very saltyEven though there might be a line, it moves quick. Everything is already made and just gotta bag and pay. If you're hungry 3 empanadas can fill you up so don't try to get all the different flavors.Carne and Pollo: Skip? Very hearty and salty and the bread was kind of flaccid. Hardly flakey, crispy, or fluffy. The carne wasn't bad but I felt like I needed to chug water in between bites, just savory overload.Champinones: Get! I love mushrooms and this one was nicely creamy and cheesy. It wasn't overly salty like the other two I got and was such a pleasant break from the sodium. Of course, if you don't like the flavor or texture of mushrooms....Overall, it's a fun little pit stop and I do recommend just coming here and picking out a flavor or two. It's part of the Embarcadero experience lolFood: 5/10Atmosphere: 7/10Service: 7/10Value: 5/10
As soon as you enter the ferry building, your olfactory senses are met with the fragrance of buttery pastry dough and cheese. While there are a great deal of amazing businesses and restaurants in the ferry building, you will no doubt find that the aroma of deliciousness can be sourced to El Porteño. Whichever empanada you choose, based on personal preference, you shall not be disappointed.
Must stop in the ferry building! Empanadas were warm and fluffy.Make sure to get chimichurri with them!
Not sure whats up with the worker at this place but every time we pre order she has a nasty attitude and acts as if the order wasn’t placed. The lady acts dismissive and never provides chimichurri. I think she just treats delivery people poorly but we are not delivery people we just like to pre order as this place gets busy. This has now happened more than once and its disappointing. Not sure if we will be returning thanks to the rude encounter with this person.
