Cousin introduced me to this place and so glad he did. This hit the spot and had enough for later. It is a easy spot for a quick bit but quality food. You walk up and order on the kiosk. All pizzas are displayed in glass so you can see what they look like. It's deep dish style, so one piece will for sure do you good. Bf ordered the all meat and he was pleased. I got the bacon and chicken with ranch and pesto pizza slice. It was really yummy. We also ordered the garlic knots that came with marinara sauce. It was a perfect pairing. After we just took a 10 min stroll to Dolores Park to work off some of the pizza. It was nice. If your nearby, stop on by. You will not be disappointed. Who doesn't like pizza?!?!!
Stopped by here to try their Detroit style pizza after having the best Detroit style pizza at Tony's. I'll have to say you get what you pay for. The place is really just a storefront for almost like a pizza takeout/ delivery spot. No indoor seating, no bathroom. You order at the kiosk, and you'll be notified when your order is done. Pizzas here are basically reheated pizza that they've already made. So I guess it's an unfair comparison to Tony's because theirs are prob made to orders. We tried the BBQ chicken, meat lovers thing and the fig. I like the BBQ chicken the most then the dig. I wish there were more fig jam tho. I'll prob not come back again.
3.5 stars overall but rounding up for a solid option for Detroit style pizza. I stopped by at 3:30pm on a Saturday, and it wasn't busy at that time. You can either place your order online for pick up (surcharges additional fees apply) or order through their kiosks at the store (two kiosks were available). Aside from cheaper prices, the other huge benefit of ordering in store is that you can order a 1/2 pizza (2 square slices) versus having to order a whole pizza (4 square slices). I also really liked that they had the different pizzas in their window display, and you could see what each pizza looked liked before ordering. It was less than a 10 minute wait for my order. I hope they add a paging system or another way to announce orders so their poor staff member doesn't have to yell out customer names when orders are ready. I ended up trying: -Sweet Bianca (Taleggio, Fig Jam, Ricotta, Mozzarella, Brick Cheese, $13): Really good combination of savory and sweet, and I liked the fig jam. However, I think this pizza would've been better with crispy bits of pancetta or bacon. -Meatzza (Italian Sausage, Bacon, Pepperoni, Mozzarella, Brick Cheese, Topped w/Parmesan House Marinara, $14.50): They didn't skimp on the meats for this pizza, especially the cup pepperoni, but it caused the pizza to be a bit too salty for my preference. Since I had a slice leftover, I added Mike's Hot Honey at home, which added the perfect amount of sweetness. Both slices were solid, and had the crispy cheese edges that are the hallmark of a good Detroit pizza. However, the pizzas didn't have enough of the stretchy melty cheese, and the crust was a little too thick/doughy in some areas. I have been spoiled by a couple of awesome Detroit pizza places in the Bay, and Joyride wasn't quite up to that level. I would still come back if in the area to give their cheese slice a try, as well as their garlic knots, cinnamon knots and cheesecake. Only outdoor patio seating was available, and they had hand sanitizer. There were street parking spots during the time I came, but this area can be challenging to find parking during the weekend rushes.
I paid $2 for arugula and did not get any. Otherwise the vegan gluten free pizza was good but annoyed I didn't get what I paid for.
