Kagawa-ya Udon - San Francisco

A cozy little eatery located between the Twitter and Reddit office buildings caught my attention for a workday lunch. At this restaurant, you can order from a variety of Udon noodle soups or curry plates at the counter. After choosing your main dish, you have the option to add some extra toppings and sides. The food was excellent, the portions were generous, and the service was quick and efficient. Overall, it was a satisfying lunch break.

I am extremely disappointed that there was no indoor dining available in September 2022. I had no way of knowing that they were only offering takeout, which led to me wasting time taking a bus there. I spent fifteen minutes standing in the cold and windy market street, dealing with aggressive homeless individuals, just to bring the food back home on the bus. To make matters worse, it wasn't even a cost-effective decision. I could have spent just four dollars more to have it delivered. It's honestly absurd. Just open your dining area already; it's 2022, and with Covid lingering, it's time to move forward.

The udon is good. Nice lunch spot for those who work around the area. It's fun to pay for food using Cash App and Square device here given that the Square HQ is just next door.

This is my favorite udon in all of Bay Area! The portions are very generous, the broth is flavorful without being a salt bomb (which honestly most udon places are a bit crazy with their salt levels), and the food is always fresh and fast to come out. Myother favs are the beef rice bowl and the gojuchang chicken DELICIOUS. Friendly staff too!
