Dear Uncle Fito; I am very sorry to tell you about the bad experience, my wife and I had eating at your Palapa. For us, we are seniors, it was somewhat difficult to reach your restaurant, and our expectations were high. Once there, we asked for a table at the terrace. Let me tell you that area gave a sense of disorder, and it was terribly noisy. Lots of waiters and waitresses coming and going, but not all properly dressed. We looked at the menu, and we were surprised by the how old and worn out they appeared. All the pages where wrinkled or cracked and did not look clean. We ordered a couple of empanadas as appetizers, and fish fillets for main dishes, prepared in different styles. One, Veracruz style, and the other (mine) with guajillo chiles. The feeling of disorder continued as we waited for our food and drinks, one person took the order, another brought the drinks, a different one came with some snacks, and yet another one showed up to set the cutlery and plates at our table. Then, the real disappointment came. All the sudden our main dishes (fish fillets) came to the table, but our appetizers never showed up. I called the waitress who took our order and asked her what had happened. She could only said that she will ask about them. At that point I told her to cancel that part of our order. How could we be expected to have our appetizer after our main dishes?. The Veracruz style fillet my wife ordered did not look good, nothing like the same we have enjoyed in many other restaurants. My fish with guajillo chiles was good, but on both our plates, the side servings or mashed potatoes and cooked vegetables were stone cold . It is obvious that the serving plates with potatoes and vegetables are readied well before the main ingredients are cooked and ready to be served. Fortunately, our empanadas did not appear o the bill. I paid and left no tip. Neither the food nor the services justify tipping in your palapa. In all everything was a really bad, bad, experience. Let me also add that your terrace was very noisy. Your DJ played some nice music, but it was very loud. The large screen TVs set around the terrace only add to the feeling of disorder we perceived. Uncle, I will finish by telling you that I could not recommend your Palapa to anyone going to Campeche, where by the way, we found much better restaurant options. Whatever you do to improve your place will not be of benefit to us, we will not return in a long time. But who knows?, if you work on it, perhaps other visitors will have enough reasons to speak well of your palapa.
A frustrating visit to this restaurant, very poor and low quality food and the worst service you can see. It’s the second time I visit the place and each time it goes worse . There are very limited options to eat in Campeche so maybe they abuse of this problem. Really a bad experience.
3rd time in Campeche 1st visit here. How I had overlooked this restaurant who knows but the menu is fantastic and local dishes (crab and pulpo) that we hadn’t had before. Superb. And washed down with a fine Mexican white wine (yes Mexican! From Baja California). Should be rated higher from my experience it should easily be in top 5.
We had heard great things about this place, so felt it would be a sure thing. Not always. First, I chose paella from the menu, and they didn't have it. The ceviche was good and the service, but when our food arrived, mine was not hot and barely lukewarm. They took it away and it wasn't really much different when it came back. There was also a family who ignored their small child and she screamed and cried next to our table way too long while the family was on the other side of the restaurant. Uggghhh ruined the beautiful ambiance. There was live music and a great view of the water
