This place looked deserted apart from the people eating here on the way to the ruins. The lunch we had was just simple with soup, chicken and tacos. Once you have eaten get outside and view the ruins which are quite spectular.
Basically a Mexican buffet, though there were short order options we didn't explore. Tables in an open-sided palapa. As speedy as you want to make it and should be something for everyone. We particularly enjoyed the soup. No fuss and all very suitable after a hard morning walking and climbing in the ruins. I can see it might be a bit crowded if big tour groups were in but we were a bit late, having been to the chocolate place over the road as well, so had no problems
We had a very nice lunch for four people after a morning of exploring the ruins at Uxmal. The meal started with a roasted pumpkin seed dip (sik il pak) which was one of the best I have ever eaten a little tomato and lots of cilantro upped the flavor profile.. Two people in our party had chicken fajitas; one had a shrimp pasta, which was fabulous spicy and smokey; and I had the roasted and shredded venison (venado) which had been marinated in sour orange and then pit roasted. It was really, really good! It was served in a cilantro, lime marinade and was so tender. The service was faultless and the setting is so beautiful. I would highly recommend this as the perfect stop for lunch after viewing the ruins.
My husband and I both ate lunch here. The food was fabulous and now that we are home I wished I had the recipe. I don't speak Spanish so I don't even know the name of what we ate. Can't wait to go back and take our kids!!
