Feedback gevenWe were driving from Messina to Siracusa and wanted to stop somewhere for a quick lunch, without subjecting ourselves to the restricted menu of mediocre quality one usually has to confront in a highway petrol station I expect to always eat well in Sicily, and did not want to break from the rule even for a fast travel break , and we discovered Europa Café through a quick internet search. The location is very convenient, just minutes away from the exit of Catania Nord, and parking was not a problem with just a little creativity. There is a little covered terrace outside on the sidewalk, which we were happy to use in COVID times, though a nice air-conditioned room is available inside. We had a selection of tavola calda items arancini, cartocciate, bolognesi, etc. , all very good, with some tè con granita for drink, and an excellent babà al rum for dessert. The staff was friendly and efficient, and rightly proud to insist we try their babà al rum, which I am glad we did. We were able to have a comfortable stop as short as we wanted, at a resonable cost €13.5 for the two of us . If I have to stop again by in the area, I now know where to go.
We were driving on the Messina Siracusa highway, and wanted to stop for a quick lunch without wasting time, but not be constrained by the limited menu available at petrol stations after all, being in Sicily we wanted to eat appropriately well. We selected this cafè with a quick internet search, and were very happy of the result. The location is very convenient, just few minutes away from the autostrada exiting at Catania Nord. We had some of the typical tavola calda items (arancini, cartocciate, bolognesi, etc. with some ice tea, and for dessert we tried the babà al rum for which they rightly claim excellence the whole lunch was €13.5 for the two of us. All was very good, we chose a table in the small outside terrace they have on the street (for COVID reasons we did not want to eat inside, where they offer a comfortable air conditioned room , and we were done as quickly as we wanted. The staff was very nice, and very proud of their babà al rum which they insisted I try (and I am glad I did . If we pass by again during our next trip to Sicily, we know where to stop.
Secondo me, è il miglior bar pasticceria di San Gregorio, ex Tazza d'Oro. Con la nuova gestione ha cambiato nome, ma la qualità è notevolmente migliorata. La colazione è deliziosa e la pausa pranzo è meglio di quella di un ristorante, con un personale cordiale, disponibile e sempre sorridente! Consigliato!
