Huong Lan Sandwiches - San Jose

The restaurant offers a great selection of dishes, but they should consider sharing more food photos.

This is a great spot for banh mi with egg and a variety of snacks or meals. We frequently order half a duck for my dad and BBQ pork belly at the chopping board. They also offer a selection of Vietnamese prepared foods, and the morning menu is impressive. The drinks are fun as well, and I particularly enjoy the taro.

It's true that they only accept cash, as many have mentioned. I absolutely love their meatball banh mi! They also offer a variety of pre-made and fresh bento boxes that are perfect for lunch or dinner, each priced around $7.

I've been on a mission to find some really good Bánh Chưng and Bánh Tét. In the past, I tried some disappointing ones from well-known spots on Story Road and within Century Plaza, where the cakes were mostly rice with very little filling (mung bean and/or meat). Finally, I found what I was looking for at Huong Lan. These are the best I've had so far! While the mung bean filling could use a bit more smoothness and the meat could use some seasoning, I'm still quite pleased with what they offer at Huong Lan. They have a great balance of beans and meat compared to the rice. So far, so good!
