Feedback gevenWe spent 7 hours in a mini van travelling from Tamarindo to San Jose and arrived at the Barcelo hotel tired and hungry. We decided to try the Japanese restaurant and thought the service from Cesar and Andrea was excellent. We were given a complementary appetiser and then had a main/entree. We thought it was good value.
It seemed to be a 1-man operation. The man opened the restaurant late and had an attitude because we were waiting out front. He seated us, and took our drink order. We were the only two people in there! I saw him preparing our hot sake in the microwave and after a 15 minute wait he served it and there were fruit flies floating in it. We gave it back and ordered a different drink that we swear had NO alcohol in it, but at least it was bug-free! He disappeared in the back for a really long time, then more people came in and were waiting to be seated. He came out wearing a hair net. When he saw the people waiting he quickly took off the hair net and seated them. I think he was the Host, the Waiter, the Bartender, and the Cook! And he failed at all 4 jobs. What you see on the menu is not even close to what you get. The food was gross, greasy, and ridiculously overpriced. Save your money!!
Not family-friendly. Rude service. Don’t even bother. Bar food is better in the same hotel if you ate looking for something to eat for dinner.
Terrible service from the waiter. They discriminated us by asking us for a dress code when other elderly people were wearing sandals and shorts. They wanted to hide us in the corner because of that and I find it too offensive. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
The food was great and was priced reasonably also the water was cool looking with fruit around the glass
