We sat at the bar, the service was excellent and the woman at the bar was very helpful in explaining the various beers offered. we tried pizza and it was surprisingly good.
The selection for the craftsmen beer are excellent. the place itself is also welcoming, good music and convenient. they are a bit too expensive, but it is worth it.
There are only two places to get craft beer in Lima: Barranco Beer Company and Canas y Tapas. On the beer level, Canas blows BBC out of the water. There are so many delicious beers here, it's wonderful. The only con: the servers are highly...inattentive and I had to flag someone down and ask for every beer I ordered. Also, note: the place doesn't open until pm (something we didn't read anywhere), so we thought the joint was closed the first time we tried going there. Thankfully we went back!
The craft beer movement that is sweeping the USA and Europe has reached down as far as Lima, Peru. If you are a beer maverick, or beer geek, Cañas y Tapas will introduce you to beers made with Peruvian products and ingenuity. This bar is...not that small. There are private rooms and a second floor. When I got the chance to visit, I always sat at the bar. I was able to try IPAs, porters, red ales, and then crazy ales and IPAs mixed with purple corn, rocoto, chocolate, etc. All these beers are pretty good, not the madness that American and European brewers create, but they are made perfectly and ready for a new market. I would even say that some of the beers, not all, could compete in the USA and Europe. Also, they have a large selection of Belgian ales and German witbiers. I never tried the food, but tried all the Peruvian craft beer they had to offer.
