They also no longer provide a customizable order sheet for selecting your ramen's salt, spice, and noodle thickness, among other options. Nevertheless, we were pleased to discover that their ramen is almost as delicious as we remembered. My husband ordered the original tonkotsu with pork bone broth, while I chose the black garlic tonkotsu, which I had enjoyed on a previous visit. The broths are smooth and not too heavy, unlike at some other places we've tried, which we appreciate. However, by the end of the bowl, it did feel a bit too rich for us, so we missed the option to customize the broth richness. Their soft-boiled eggs are always cooked to perfection, the noodles have a fantastic texture, and we really enjoy all the toppings and proteins included. No complaints at all!
The broth is flavorful, and the ingredients taste fresh. The house-made noodles have a perfectly chewy texture.
The ramen and katsu curry chicken were outstanding—possibly the best I've had outside of Japan!
As soon as we walked in, the abundance of greenery created a cozy atmosphere. My only minor complaint was that the door was propped open a bit too wide given the cold weather — I was fine, but my wife felt chilly. We ordered the Black Tonkotsu Ramen (two bowls), pork buns (two), and truffle fries. Everything was delicious! The ramen arrived before our appetizers, which was a small issue, but the fries came out at the same time. And those fries were incredibly addictive! They were well-seasoned with salt, and the truffle flavor was fantastic. The ramen featured sous vide pork belly, which was the most tender and soft pork belly I’ve had in a long time — it practically melted in my mouth! The soft-boiled egg was also cooked perfectly. The broth was flavorful, although I would have liked it to be a bit more garlicky. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the ramen noodles were the weakest part; they were quite thin. Although they provided a good portion, I prefer thicker noodles for a broth like this. The pork buns arrived halfway through our ramen, and they were great as well — they had what seemed to be a mix of Kewpie mayo and spicy mayo, along with some spinach. Overall, it was a delightful meal at a great price. I’m genuinely surprised by how good it was, especially since it’s located in Bayfair at San Leandro. We will definitely be returning. I'm so glad we decided to try it out last night!
Angry Ramen allows you to personalize your meal with an easy-to-read menu. The staff is friendly and ready to assist first-time visitors with any questions. The spice level ranges from 1 to 5, and you can even request additional heat based on your preference. They don’t offer takeout, which is a wise choice, as this ramen is best enjoyed slowly in the restaurant's ambiance. Anyone who claims this isn't authentic ramen is mistaken.
